  1. I have done the fronts and the rear caliper line, on my RC79. It all works ok. Presson is on the money, with the lines connecting to the ABS unit. It was way to hard for me. The braided lines look “trick” but I can’t say that there has been a very significant improvement in brake performance.

  2. Three valve clearance checks in the first 75,000km on my 2014. All within spec. Now over 100,000km and the bike is still running perfectly. I don’t cane it and rarely go into 4 valve mode, although I did one track day a couple of years ago and it was rarely in 2 valve mode. A pretty good motor.

    This probably stupid question but I’m serious what is the part called that the cspanner turns and is it replaceable I recently bought the bike and the teeth are all messed up and chain way to loose

    It’s an expensive bit of kit, new. If you search fleabay, you might get a reasonable second hand one. If the bearings are still good, it might be worthwhile taking the bearing holder out and trying to clean up the teeth. My Viffer has just topped 100,000km and the carrier is still in top nick, they shouldn’t get damaged unless a gorilla has tried to adjust the chain.

  4. I thought that squidbilly was chasing the raised “Interceptor” badges from the US 800F model, to replace the front “VFR” badges on the UK or Oz versions. Not decals. I have done it, just to personalise my bike, and got the new badges from a US supplier, via fleabay!

    It's been around 18 months or so since being able to do and fairly easy 385k round trip ride to my favorite winery, mostly on nice quiet back roads. I've had a few hospital visits and major cancer surgery to get through, anyhow, the short story is I'm feeling great now and have another 12 months or so of Immunotherapy to get through then hopefully I'll be in the clear.

    Today was a bit of a test to see how I'd handle the longer times in the saddle along with a picture perfect Spring day for riding, everything went well, happy me.:smile:

    There's a great winery I enjoy riding to in a tiny country town called Moonambel (Victoria Australia, Google Maps will get you there!!), an old Gold mining town, but the only Gold you'll find there now are the Red's produced by - Summerfield Winery.

    Here's a few happy snaps of the day

    Safe Riding All.

    Cheers:beer::wheel:

    On the way up "Fields of Gold"everywhere, Canola in bloom.

    Not quite Las Vegas. Apart from the winery, there's the Motel and a General Store not much else!

    The brilliant wine maker himself Mark Summerfield - Liquid Gold! Time to fill up the Panniers and head for home. The bike just loves Reds!

    Mark and the winery staff know me as "The Red Baron". The VFR and my wine pickups have featured in one of the Wine Club newsletters.

    I've made eight wine travel canisters out of 90mm PVC storm water pipe with a solid cap on one end. I roll up each bottle with bubble wrap then slide it into one of the canisters, I can fit up to 4 bottles in each of the pannier internal bags and haven't had a breakage yet.

    Very good news, to hear you’re doing well, and managed a “little” ride. There is probably almost enough gas left in the Viffer to go back and get some more vino, 8 can’t be enough.

  6. My local Honda dealer replaced the plugs at the first two valve clearance checks. I didn’t think about it the first time, but asked why the second time. The response- “ its a Honda recommendation”.  The third time I said “don’t do anything, but the valves, I’ll do the rest”. That dealership has now closed. The current plugs have 50,000km on them and the red rocket still flys. At 96,000kms it has never required a valve adjustment, assuming the Honda dealership actually checked them, before they took my money.

  7. They do all get flat in the middle, unless you only ride in the twisties. It’s a gradual change, so we all get used to the handling. A new set of tyres highlights the change. I take my tyres to the wear strips too.

  8. Not really, it’s reasonably straightforward. The lines are very stiff, so you need to fit them pretty loosely, before you tighten them up. I used flair nut spanners to loosen the old connections to the ABS unit, but open enders to tighten things up. They are Frentubo lines, supposedly used on the LCR GP bikes, and are significantly cheaper than HEL and Galfer, but, they do have multiple flare connections at the RHS caliper, which is probably not ideal. The Hel lines have a crimped/permanent union at that point, which might be better and make installation a bit simpler.
