That's what it reminded me of, too! I was surprised to see how faithfully the paint scheme had been followed, however.
Interestingly (?), the Japanese-market 1990 VFR750FL had "Advanced Super Sport" stickers on the rear cowl.

I "bought" a used one in London on my first-ever trip to Europe, but it blew up when the dealer was prepping it for me to collect...Lucky escape, methinks!

Hmm. Those exhausts actually look a bit short to me. Overall very RC45-ish, but the RC45 had black wheels...
Definitely not a Honda "special edition", which I would define as something like the "50th Anniversary" VFR800Fi or the Smokin' Joe's Replica or Valentino Rossi Replica CBR600Fs from earlier in the decade: The parts for these had their own part numbers and could be ordered from any Honda dealer within the region in which they were originally sold.
That said, various Honda importers and dealers have created many "special edition" paint jobs over the years and, if the appropriate documentation exists, these bikes can be worth some additional money if the right buyer is found. Just don't try to order a replacement fairing... :fing02:

I'm not sure if I like the red or the black. I'll keep looking and let you know later...
