  1. Surely the fairing stay vibrates too much? Leon, maybe it's just an optical illusion but is your brake fluid darker than some of your favourite whiskeys?
  2. Okay so I worked it out myself that number 11 I have always referred to as the damping rod and it contains those three parts that the op refers to and it can be taken apart by removing the oil lock from the bottom which just slips off and reveals a removable circlip inside the bottom end of the cartridge, which is the lower half. The damping rod (thinner upper half) slides in and out of said cartridge and has the rebound damping valve attached. The compression valve seats at the bottom of the cartridge and the whole thing can be disassembled once the circlip has been removed. Thanks anyway.
  3. Yes switchblade that is where I got the blow-up diagram I posted earlier. What I'm asking is which numbers are the OP and JD referring to when they use the following terms: - Cartridge tube - Rebound valve - Adj/connector rod I figure they are all in number 11 yet this part doesn't come separated in the microfiche
  4. Yeah it's pretty damn obvious but hey... Everyone has to have their first time sometime.
  5. Dutchy, it depends on whether you're sure you managed to get all the old oil out. If so, adding exact Specified Volume of New oil should be fine. If not, then you now have more oil in there than Spec... depending on how much more you could Experience Hydraulic lock, Although I doubt that. Depends on how Long you let it Drain and whether you pumped to get most of the old oil out. As far as the air in the rod sorting Itself out, yes, It will. The big question is how much old oil was left in there. A wire Coat Hanger or Other Length of wire is great for fishing out the damping rod. I reckon you'll be fine Regarding lock nut and Lower bolt. They aren't going anywhere nor can anything really come undone given the hermetic set-up. You'll only Know if Lower bolt is Loose if you start Losing oil through there. Check for leaks regularly. If your Model had Preload adjustment you might Notice it Turns to no effect but this is not the case. If you crash and burn I accept no Responsibility
