  1. BTW, are you also doing a rear brake caliper flip?? Might as well do it now while you're deep in there!! You will avoid ride height reducing effect when you tighten the chain. Beck 95 VFR
  2. Didn't take as much off when I did it a couple of months ago.... but it's the same idea. I might take some more off right next to the peg, but I think I'm generally happy with what I already took off, as long as it lightens the look of the OEM guard enough. This could become one of the most common mods, next to the "fenderectomy" Beck 95 VFR
  3. You also use that extension on the end of the tire lug wrench (insert the rounded end on the wrech handle) to get more leverage. The flattened part makes for a comfortable area to push pressure from your hand/palm on You can even put you boot sole on it for removing stubborn tight lug nuts. Beck 95 VFR
  4. THANKS Veefer800canuck. ok I get the picture. Now i remember the two swingarms are different. Ive not really progressed to vfr 1998+ (rc46/45 measurements etc) So im going back to the drawing board and looks as though im going to have to stick with plan A for now unless anyone else has any suggestions on locking up a 94-97 fourth gen.? The rc30 hub and brake stay unit slips in to fourth gen. swing arm no worries. So lock arm will go from bottom upward, similar to below example ive googled at some point in past. Here is an example of what im going to have to replicate, but on my '97 swing arm, so top lockup part will be on top of '97 swing arm not middle as here. Funny, I thought the RC30 rear axle was also hollow all the way through with a big hole like our VFRs. That almost looks exactly how my Hawk GT647 rear hub setup looked, with the castellated nut and lock pin. My memory of the 30's details must be fading with time... Beck 95 VFR
  5. Noooo, don't touch that can or the "g-men" will be on your back lickety split, sending you to the slammer for breaking EPA laws!! ........BTW, it's there to capture polluting "farts" from your gas tank  . Beck 95 VFR
  6. Uhhhmmm.....WHY???? Beck 95 VFR
  7. You're close but I think it's actually a left handed 3/4" manurfenater flange  Get it right JTG, if that is indeed a left handed manurfenater flange , the flootzmondor tab would be on top not at the bottom and the geffer plate will have four grooves, not two. I still think Baileyrock is correct with his answer! Honda, please save us, WE NEED A 7th GEN VFR REAL SOON!!!  Beck 95 VFR
  8. I believe "Cobougalator" is spelled with a "K", at least it is in Germany, where it was first invented by a former DKW engineer, Boris Kobougas and BLS would truly be a genius if his is indeed a dual unit!....Never been done before, even in competition bikes!!  ...I wonder how he balances those things?? Beck 95 VFR

  11. Heck, the 3rd and 4th gen VFRs have such small stock radiators to start with (looks very similar in size to what my Hawk GT 650 had), that most other radiators from other sport and ST bikes might provide more cooling capacity....unless the VFR's radiator is a double row type and the others use single....not sure about that detail. Beck 95 VFR
  12. That should keep 6th gen VFR riders backs dry. Good idea using carbon. the material counteracts well it's mostly utilitarian purpose. The compound curved shape also makes it look more OEM. Most would have just used flat stock which would be ugly. Just wondering Travis, why not make replacement carbon heat shields for OEM 6th gen pipes. It will give many that can't afford the expensive aftermarket pipes for the bike an option to dress up their OEMs instead. Maybe you can design them with nice diagonal louver vents to make them more interesting. Just a thought.... Beck 95 VFR
  13. OTAY!!! Fantastic!! Wunderbar!!! Congratulations on the product launch TORO!! So whose first to dive into torocharger land!!!! Hmmmm... or fearless leader Miguel has a 5th gen......hmmmm.... Beck 95 VFR - ToroChargerless.......for now???
  14. Well, we did see the "prototype" up and running, plus we also saw some later development mock-ups and improvements from Toro. but it has been very quiet since late last year. At least Toro's gone as far as he did on it. Some VFR projects don't even get started at all....like my goofy idea of adding a tail mounted, rear facing, video camera on the tail of my bike with a small video screen at the instrument panel to supplement my rear view mirrors.......After spending so much money on different dash mounting hardware and partial wiring harnesses, the video cameras and screens are still languishing in project parts boxes in my bedroom.... Hope Toro gives us an update soon! Beck 95 VFR
  15. My 4th gen does not have rubber pads on it's pegs and I never had vibration discomfort problems. But note that the later gen VFRs did have weights added on to their pegs in additon to the rubber pads to quell down vibration that might be inherent to the 800cc engine's design. The wieghts work like the handlebar end weights on our bikes to cancel out most of the vibration. So there is a possibility that you might encounter/feel more vibration with the Buel pegs, compared to the stock pegs. Beck 95 VFR
  16. IIRC, the 3rd gen actually weighs more than the 4th, 5th and 6th gen bikes. 5th gen the lightest, 4th and 6th about the same, 3rd gen (1990-93) the heaviest. Beck 95 VFR
  17. Yes, The 4th gen speedometer is electronically driven from a pickup at the countershaft sprocket area. It's the thingy with the "TDK" letters on it and wires going to the harnes towards the front of the bike. I was thinking of the CBR900's subframe because I always like the way it was exposed on the bike and how the luminum was finished. Not sure if it will line up close enough with an RC 45 tail fairing. Fotomoto should have an idea. You can maybe look at the mounting bolt holes of the RC45's tail in pics and see if they are close to where the CBR900, or other subframes you might find out there will work with the 45's tail fairing. Good luck! We will wait in great anticipation for your future posts on your project! Beck 95 VFR
  18. Curious if you are also planning to replace the crude, heavy, and low steel rear subframe too? Will a CBR 900 aluminium rearsubframe work if tweaked a bit here and there?? Beck 95 VFR

I do have to admit that some parts of the bike do look "Spiffy". but the last slap on the face from the DN-01 is it's ridiculous $14K price in the US. Can you say "Discontinued in 2010!!"?? Beck 95 VFR
  20. They look awesome  ! How "streetable" will they be though. Do carbon discs still have to kept "hot" to work well, or did they eliminate that problem already? If they did, I wouldn't doubt we'd also seeing it in the most expensive production bikes soon. I wish I had the resources and know-how that you do to work on more exciting winter projects.
