Well said.
I have 2 R's and will never sell them.
In 2012 I rode one with a buddy of mine who was on his 83 Kawasaki GPz1100 from Maine to San Diego and back. On the second day we pulled into Ashville NC and I thought I had made a huge mistake. At 5'7" and 147 lbs soaking wet you would think I'm the UJR (Universal Japanese Rider) But my knees and back were killing me. Even being 5'7" I thought the riding positition was a bit tight.
Next day we headed out around 7 am and rode the Dragon, 215, Wayah Rd, all the usual suspects in western NC and did not get back until 9:30 at night. Felt fine, so I guess I adjusted.
When asked, I readily admit my 97 VFR is the most neutral forgiving bike I have ever ridden. Plenty of power at the wheel, brakes that brake, suspension that's kinda OK.
The VF1000R, well its like walking a tightrope, a thousand feet up, with out a net in a snowstorm. Better bring your "A" game. It is heavy machine, which surprisngly makes it a great touring bike, which I doubt Honda ever imagined. As quickly as it sheds its pounds at speed though, it gains back at zero speed, in a hurry.
The turn in with the 16" front is sublime, until it isn't, but thats me, not the bike.
If I may, a picture.
