  1. It'll certainly be off-species. Haha. You've taken the surprise out the armor all experience now. You'll have to get more creative. :)
  2. I'd love to ride my VF500. It's been sitting in my garage since 2004. I wish it ran because I'd love ride it again. Maybe at a future meet.
  3. Here are the finalized designs and colours for the t-shirts. I've ordered the shirts today. T-shirt Orders - Samples (Cotton Gildan Super T-shirt)
  4. Good to hear from you, Tony. It would be great to have you join us. There's still space at the hostel if you're interested.
  5. Just want to confirm whether the following people want t-shirts or not, and if so, what is their size. I haven't received payments for these ones but if you're still interested you can pay me at the event or send me PayPal at superfunkomatic@gmail.com. The shirts will have each attendee's name printed on the back. Sorry, no ladies sizes as they are generic this time. SquamishVFR 34468Randy V-Fore Steve B VF1000e QDawg & Erin DigitallyHip & Emily Belfry Olive? (You coming?)
  6. Precisely, to quote Will Shakespeare - "Much ado about nothing...." We'll be fine. You play that far above the speed limit, you pay - fine, impoundment and in your future insurance installments. Your choice. Have fun, but not too much fun.
  7. On a completely different note. I received a call from the local Powerhouse Honda and I'll be taking a test ride on the new Africa Twin DCT on May 14th. No firm date but my bike, which is a manual, should arrive late May or early June. So I should have it with time to spare for the meet - knock on wood for good luck.
  8. I think the key is don't be a dick. If you're not speeding excessively, making excessive noise, or racing on the street with your knee down, you'll be fine. I haven't had any issues with RCMP in the many times I've been to Nelson. I have, however, seen plenty of them. The issues arose from residents especially on the approach to the town before the bridge. The locals do phone in speeders and not so surprisingly the RCMP show up. I have seen this first hand on a few occasions - someone rips past me at double-plus speeds and when I see them down the road the RCMP have them and are writing tickets. I see what the locals are upset about - 120 db exhaust noise on their lakeside property, reckless car drivers and riders, and people who treat the public roadways as a race course. Would you want your family near a road that is used by road racers? If you are civil and respectful, I don't think you'll have any problems. We'll all go. Have fun. And be good visitors. The alternative is performance awards. No thanks....
  9. So far we have 25 confirmed attendees! The weather has been pretty good here and I've already been out and riding to work and a few short jaunts (still snow in the mountains and cold). I still haven't gotten my lazy ass in gear to do the t-shirts, but never fear they will rear their heads before the meet. If the weather remains this mild I may do a reconnaissance run to Nelson in late April or early May. Still no sign of my new bike from Honda but I hear rumblings the Africa Twins are starting to arrive in the USA so we can be far off. My prediction is still May.

That Abba lift is awesome. I've considered getting one for my garage. Looks like it easily hoists a 'veefalo'.
  11. I think we should ban the consumption of spirited beverages. There's an old axiom that 'man can not live on beer alone'. That remains to be seen and tested.
  12. I know. It's a sin. Although, this past fall I was able to keep riding until mid-November which was a real bonus.
  13. So t-shirt ordering has closed. If there are any stragglers that would still like a shirt but haven't ordered one please let me know by PM or e-mail. There are still places left in the shared bunks (groups of eight), if anyone else is still interested in attending the meet. I intended to do the t-shirts long in advance of the closing date, but sometimes life just gets in the way. I'll have the design posted when I can. We have enough money to cover all costs so far. I was thinking of a BBQ at the hostel the first night and going out for dinner/mingling/carousing on night two. Does that work for everyone? Anyone else get their bikes out yet? First ride was Friday morning at -2 celcius. Love that first ride of the season to get the juices flowing. I hope everyone else is getting out soon, too.
  14. Yep. Good ideas. I'll send them all a reminder to confirm. It's on the homepage in the right hand side on the calendar. It has been on the front page but maybe they'll rotate it in again when we get closer to spring.
  15. So, that opens up one shared room with BCAL whom I don't know but hasn't come across as an axe murderer. :) For those that are coming but not staying in the hostel or are local can you please contribute to the dinner fund and t-shirts before the deadline at the end of February? For those that continue to say you're coming, please sign up and make payment for your room and the extras. So far we're at $2400 total, which covers the facility but leaves me on the hook for t-shirts and food costs (not good). We ideally need about 5-7 more attendees to make things financially viable for the whole facility. If not, I may have to do a 'plan B' and talk to the facility about only booking rooms that have been paid and coming up with alternative arrangements for food. So, in a nutshell, if you're coming, please show you're coming by making payments.
  16. Sorry to hear that, Jeff. I'll arrange a refund and post the availability of that room on Eventbrite. Thanks for letting me know with lots of notice.
  17. That is a great road love the part that goes down to Quimby Rd - like an old cart path. Snow? I had no idea you had snow that close to San Jose and the Bay Area. Craziness.
  18. I just went through the old invoices from the first meet and the women's shirts were indeed women's shirts. I don't think it will be a problem. Just gotta finish up the logo and get them printed.
  19. I'm 98% confident that by the time this meet happens I will no longer have my VFR either. The dawn of the Africa Twin. A few updates we have about 25 confirmed attendees thus far, which is awesome. All smaller rooms are booked except one. There is one shared room with VFR800Canuck (Rob) that is available. I can attest that he is not an axe murderer and all-round good guy for someone that wants just one roommate. The remaining rooms are the large dorms with 8 spots/beds. If we have further interest, if we could get 4 more people in each room I'd be happy to shut down room bookings and the event will break even. So with Maxwell taking one, HispanicSlammer (definitely coming, no excuses! ) we'd have 6 more spots. Although, if we have some of the other 'definitely confirmed' folks book we could fill the dorms and be one big happy VFR family. Still waiting for confirmation on the meal between a local proprietor caterer and the local college who has a culinary arts program to see who is the best fit for one of the big group meals. Also talking to a former student who may (fingers crossed) design the logo and artwork for the t-shirts. As said in previous posts, isn't it spring yet? I thought this was an El Niño year with less snow! Darn you mother nature! One last note, could the following folks PM me their emergency contact info for the meet: V-Fore SquamishVFR BCMCRider Polarbear Didit CVVFR Blackhole I hope to never use it, but it's good to have just in case of an emergency. Thanx, Mike
  20. That's great that you signed up. Thanks for paying, too. Realistically we need about 6-8 more people to pay for rooms before everything falls into place.
  21. No problem. I understand. Sounds good. There won't be a problem with the dorm rooms. We'll certainly set one aside for you. I know! It's 15 below here today. Another week until the motorcycle show which is halfway to spring. :) jimbob, CVVFR & I will be coming up, via 97 & St Maries through your hood on the Thurs before. Stopping overnight at my lake cabin in WA. Then, a nice 250+ mile run up on the Friday to Nelson. I'll be posting routes later in the new year, but we'd be glad to have you along.
