  1. Great post guys. Darren, nice new bike - that red colour is smashing. Now if you could just get rid of that ridiculous ventura rack system - UG-LY! Take some of that money you have left and buy the honda luggage. ;)
  2. I've always been curious about these aftermarket seats. To be honest, I really haven't found the stock seat that bad. I can easily do all-day rides and not be sore/tired. Maybe with the sargent seat i'd be able to ride in more comfort though. I have a tough time justifying the cost just to try it.
  3. Took me several years before I felt comfortable on a bike again after a nasty spill. You'll gradually get more and more confident over time. I take it much, much easier now that I've had a get-off - slower pace, enjoy the scenery, and stay alive. I think the suggestion of a track day would be a good place to start too. Although I've never done one, I've done lots of training for a local motorcycle training class. Having a place to push things and find out what you and your bike can do made a big difference.
  4. great pics! looks like you had a blast at the event. some crazy looking bikes/scoots and people too!
  5. stunning photos, miguel. the colours in the fall are absolutely gorgeous. that old bridge keystoned into the rock is pretty cool too. now i'm thinking - 'hmmm, maybe i need an offroad bike too....'
  6. tim is right. we had a transport canada related recall. they have to fix it. qdawg, i had a dealer here say they wouldn't do my recall work since my alarm system tapped into the wiring harness. crazy! went to another - GW Cycle and they had no problem and even connected the wiring for the alarm again, and, replaced a couple of those crappy plastic fairing clips that i'd broken. if you're stuck try another dealer - you're close enough to use GW Cycle. see what they say. the alternative is i'll get Tim to come up from oregon and start wielding a 2x4 in their dealership.
  7. great pics. these will be great discussion pieces when your child gets older. very cute!
  8. it's a bit like riding a jack-o-lantern! halloween all year round. pretty cool.
  9. check the website, http://www.uni-go-trailers.com/, there's lots of info on there. i'd be tempted to get one with a custom deck-lid so my dalmatian could come riding with me.
  10. i rode this route and stood aghast at this very spot last summer. it's an absolutely stunning vista; one every rider should visit if they get the chance. great photo!
  11. this is a remarkable idea and something worth exploring. with increasing demand for fuel and decreasing supply (or maximized supply), alternatives to straight fuel are starting to make a lot of sense. frankly, if i had a perfectly silent bike that would get me around town on an electric charge, and have some fun zip from the motor, i'd be sold on the idea. can't wait to see the final working model.
  12. Sounds like a fantastic deal, Tim. I talked to a guy the other day that got a $26,000 BMW from a wrecker in Quebec for $6,000. The damage was purely cosmetic but insurance refused to pay out the repairs, so it was written off. It cost him only $3,000 to replace plastic, a fairing support and headlight. Pretty good deal in my opinion, if you can find it. Did i mention the bike only had 400km on it? Crazy good deal.
  13. wow, great pics - really fast shutter on the last one - you can even see the tread on your front tire. sounds like a fantastic day and a lot of fun. must be cool to be one of the first riders to test out a newly renovated track.

    Lolo pass

it's a highway that runs across the state of idaho. lots of long sweeping curves the whole way, then the end has a few miles of tight switchbacks. not much to see along the way except a riverbed, but a great riding road. good pic, paul!
  15. i went through there this summer from vernal to the flaming gorge and beyond. the part from vernal to the bridge over the damn is lots of fun, lots of uphill switchbacks. fun fun!

    PNW Ride

most excellent riding day. i'm actually in a picture for a change, right of centre, standing on the edge of the hill.
  17. i was through there in august, what a fantastic ride up the pass. didn't realize that i'd start feeling loopy because of the altitude! mt. evans is awesome too.

    VTEC RC30ed

zoinks! that's fantastic. honda could have easily done that instead of the new gray colour this year. it looks like a sport bike with that colour scheme. nice!
  19. i thought i was the only one who had the debate - "so, what do you want to eat?" with a reply "i don't care, where do you want to eat?" must be a universal. haha.
  20. took almost 4 years, but i finally got a chance to sign it.
  21. great write up. great pics. i'll be retracing a lot of your path, only in the opposite direction, in 2 weeks. crazy canucks down there at the races, eh? once you start saying 'eh' you'll be hooked and could probably pass for a canadian. ;)
  22. this is definitely the way to go, everything fits together just right but only if you leave all the fasteners loose until the very end. i made the mistake of tightening as a i went, doesn't work. you'll have to adjust things at the end before everything is in its place.
  23. cellphones so convenient, extremely annoying. i thought it was common courtesy to hangup your phone when you were in public places. i see this all the time, someone makes it to the front of the line only to get a call on their cellphone and tell the clerk - "sorry, can you hold on a minute." to the person in front of them. really rude. there should be a course on phone ettiquette, a mandatory one, before you're allowed to take the phone from the store. as for a-holes riding a VFR, guess there has to be one bad apple in the bunch.
  24. looks really sharp. they did a great job on the coating, looks just like the factory finish on my 2005. the angled valve-stems is a great idea, i'll do that when i change my tires this summer, it's a bit tight getting the pump attached.
  25. great idea. i have a little nikon camera, maybe i'll give it a try. nice vid too. a couple broken double lines by your buddy, looks like a fantastic place to ride.
