  1. Thanks for all your work over the years.

I've learned a lot, made some great friends, short-term acquaintances for a beer and a chat, and travelled to places I otherwise hadn't been. This site has been a tremendous social outlet and source of knowledge and wisdom.

I totally understand. When it's time, it's time...

But I'll continue to enjoy and support the site while you keep it going.

You are going to be missed SFOM. I was looking forward to hanging with you again. I'll have to catch you later in CA. It is my favorite riding destination.

Indeed. Really enjoyed your company at the meet last summer, too. Our paths will cross again. :)

  3. Well, as luck would have it, my original statement holds true. I wasn't sure if I'd be going in spite of already booking the hotel room, and, I won't be attending after all.

That will free up one room at the hotel if someone is still interested. I'll contact the hotel today and let them know.

I hope everyone has a great ride and time.

I'm finally leaving the Dancing Bear. Headed to Revelstoke and Yoho. I joined Intl. Hostels to do more of these stays.

Full props to Mike and the whole crew for making this such a Fabulous Trip.My happy muscles got quite a workout. Thinking back on the weekend still brings on a feces-eating grin, causing strangers to come up to me and comment that must have just gotten laid.:pinocchio:

I probably won't be making my home safe state for several more weeks. BC and CA are great; it will be hard to leave.

Thanks for coming all the way out West, Terry.

There are excellent hostels on the Icefields Parkway (Highway 93 just outside of Lake Louise), Banff and at Ribbon Creek in Kananaskis (Highway 40 - Highwood Pass is a beautiful ride) if you want to commune with nature for cheap.

Safe travels and drop me a line if you come through Alberta.

Here is a link to the photos - thanks to my 'accomplice' Tammy for shooting some photos at the pub on Saturday night!

All the photos should be downloadable - please let me know if there are any problems?

Super photo, Tony! What a handsome group!

I came home early the other day (touring on a 250 is a bit different - tired - haha).

It was great to see everyone and the chemistry of this group. Lots of fun, good jokes and conversations, and excellent riding companions. Enjoy the rest of your summer, friends.

    All the best,

    Mike

What an adventure it has been! Mike, you go above and beyond. Mikes, Jims, Kevins, D&T, Arman, Ian, Terry... everyone could not have been more friendly. All of you are welcome at my home in Reno,  Nevada. I have 2 guest bedrooms! Give me a couple of weeks notice. Whether motorcycle, mountain bike or ski, I will show you around.

What a blast, safe travels, rubber  side  down,

    MarkinReno

I'M for phone if you can't reach me via this blog.

Have a great ride. The roads I mentioned in Alberta were highway 40 from just after Canmore to Longview. If you're stopping in Banff or Lake Louise the Icefields Parkway is worth riding just up to the glaciers (about an hour). Safe travels!

  7. Hi all,

Great to see y'all last night. Don't forget breakfast at the Hume Hotel at 9am today ($15/person including gratuity). Name tags, t-shirts, small gift bags for each participant. We can also organize groups and routes for riding. I've made a few suggestions earlier and on the main post. Looks like much better weather today.

When we're done breakfast maybe we can assemble at the Welcome to Nelson sign for a group pic.

  8. Last thing - ride maps. ** I've included a PDF to download on your phone if you like.

Just a heads up that there is road construction from the Slocan Valley (Hwy 6) junction for 15 km to Nelson. Half the road is grooved and it's alternating single lane with 20 minute closures.

So my plan is to meet you guys Saturday morning at the breakfast place. Sorry I will miss the Friday meet and greet but I will attend the Saturday dinner.

Sounds good. We'll see you Saturday.

  10. Parking

A couple of notes for when you arrive on Friday. There's parking on the front driveway, behind the building, and as things fill up, directly in front of the hostel on the street. There's also a parking lot across the street that is the Best Western's but I haven't confirmed if they are okay with us parking bikes there (although I did a couple of weeks ago without incident - do so at your own risk, or, ask them for permission - they're right next door).

    Check-in

Check in with us on the patio for your swag bag, name tag and have a brew or drink and food on the patio. I'll be there about 2pm - official check-in is 4pm so take your time arriving - no rush.

    Room Assignments

Below is the list of folks and their rooms at the Dancing Bear hostel. Let me know if I've made any errors. You lucky buggers in the dorms have the whole place to yourselves. :)
