  1. Thanks for all your work over the years. I've learned a lot, made some great friends, short-term acquaintances for a beer and a chat, and travelled to places I otherwise hadn't been. This site has been a tremendous social outlet and source of knowledge and wisdom. I totally understand. When it's time, it's time... But I'll continue to enjoy and support the site while you keep it going.

    Great photo of you fellas.

  4. Nice one. It's been a few years since I sold my VFR. That's one of my favorite loops around Calgary. What a fantastic bike.
  5. Good pics! Ride while you can. Days are numbered here, too.
  6. Carb cleaner will dissolve it with very little effort. You may use quite a bit to clean things up but it works.
  7. This is a rider with their priorities in order. 🙂

  9. Indeed. Really enjoyed your company at the meet last summer, too. Our paths will cross again. :)
  10. Well, as luck would have it, my original statement holds true. I wasn't sure if I'd be going in spite of already booking the hotel room, and, I won't be attending after all. That will free up one room at the hotel if someone is still interested. I'll contact the hotel today and let them know. I hope everyone has a great ride and time. Mike
  11. Booked. I'm not sure if I can actually make it yet but I've booked a room just in case.
  12. Love the roads around that area and of course Highway 1. Great riding and scenery. Thanks for sharing.
  13. You never know when you could get a rear flat that you can't repair on the road. Talk about being prepared and proactive.
  14. Thanks for coming all the way out West, Terry. There are excellent hostels on the Icefields Parkway (Highway 93 just outside of Lake Louise), Banff and at Ribbon Creek in Kananaskis (Highway 40 - Highwood Pass is a beautiful ride) if you want to commune with nature for cheap. Safe travels and drop me a line if you come through Alberta. mike
  15. Super photo, Tony! What a handsome group! I came home early the other day (touring on a 250 is a bit different - tired - haha). It was great to see everyone and the chemistry of this group. Lots of fun, good jokes and conversations, and excellent riding companions. Enjoy the rest of your summer, friends. All the best, Mike
  16. Have a great ride. The roads I mentioned in Alberta were highway 40 from just after Canmore to Longview. If you're stopping in Banff or Lake Louise the Icefields Parkway is worth riding just up to the glaciers (about an hour). Safe travels!
  17. Hi all, Great to see y'all last night. Don't forget breakfast at the Hume Hotel at 9am today ($15/person including gratuity). Name tags, t-shirts, small gift bags for each participant. We can also organize groups and routes for riding. I've made a few suggestions earlier and on the main post. Looks like much better weather today. When we're done breakfast maybe we can assemble at the Welcome to Nelson sign for a group pic.
  18. It's drizzly and wet. I'm waiting for the ferry at Crawford Bay. Forecast for tomorrow is sunny. Fingers crossed.
  19. I'm in Fernie now for breakfast. Yeesh. A bit cold this morning. Nice and warm here though. Halfway there. :)
  20. Last thing - ride maps. ** I've included a PDF to download on your phone if you like. 4 hour ride (not including lunch + ferry ride or wait) - Nelson to Creston to Crawford Bay back to Nelson - https://goo.gl/maps/NxVuikyuPcx 4 hour ride (not including lunch - no ferry ride) - Nelson to Kaslo to New Denver to Kaslo to Nelson - https://goo.gl/maps/8VFjM2c9Hip 6.5 hour ride (not including lunch + ferry ride) - Nelson to Creston to Crawford Bay to Kaslo to New Denver back to Kaslo to Nelson - if you really want to do them all - https://goo.gl/maps/Nxx82Np6n592 2016 Kootenay Hootenanny Ride Routes.pdf
  21. Wanda the Honda is loaded and ready to go. I'll be off early tomorrow morning. See y'all tomorrow afternoon and evening!
