35 is the thread, the socket is 46.
Yep - I was going nuts and realized that M35 means inner threads just like an M8 bolt means 8mm thick.
Now I gotta return the 35mm and find a 46mm. Dang it.

Arrrgghh!!
Other VFR boards say 46mm bolt…but the 6th Gen. parts fiche says 35mm! (And I just bought a 35mm socket due to arrive tomorrow). Is it 46mm after all?
NUT, LOCK (35MM) -
Looking forward to seeing more! Great thread so far. 🙂

An old high school buddy works in fabrication and I jokingly suggested him making me some CF fairings as he brings up that material. He said "get me the CAD files and we'll see". I've poked around but no idea where I'd get such a thing (indeed if they're available). Anyone have a link?

I'm curious, has anyone ever tried cleaning the disc brake bobbins to "unbind" them so the discs can float properly in the carrier?

I'd never heard of this before but it seems to make sense and would be easy to try.
Oi! That boffin's right brilliant he is!
Thanks for the tip mate!

1 amp wont charge an iPhone 5 and 1 amp would allow my droid to discharge while running gps and blue tooth from it...thanks for the heads up on where to source!
5V/1A is fine to charge an iPhone 5, you'll need 2.1A to charge an iPad however if that's what you were thinking.

I bled my old 2004 plenty of times using a MityVac but now have an ABS model and am not sure how much the process differs. Tips on the same procedure, but using the standard bleed valves and a MityVac? Thanks for the GREAT write-up!

I remove the rear tire, swingar, radiators and headlight assembly then generously spray lube all over myself then wrap the chain around my glistening body whilst singing inspiring songs of our forefathers.
....or if I'm in a hurry clean the chain with a grunge brush and some mineral spirits, dry with a CLEAN cloth then use Dupont Dry Lube "Chain Saver" about every 500 miles.

Did this Suzuki TL1000R Front end on the wife's Gen 3.
Is better in the corners than stock the best I can tell. The biggest plus was in the breaking.
That bike is gorgeous!

I have found that Simple Green works well also.
While simple green is a great cleaner, it will DESTROY certain materials, like the gaskets in your chain. Ask me how I know...
On the other hand, I bet your soon-to-be-replaced chain had never looked better - just like mine did after a Simple Green scrubbing. :woohoo: :pissed:

Where did you get the rim tape?

Given the propensity for rich-running engines to foul plugs, is that a potential downside of this mod? I did it to my 2004 and while the flat spot is gone, I can smell (and on cold days SEE) that my exhaust is "rich" smelling.
While I was no fan of the flat spot, I'd hate to trade fouled plugs for it. Thoughts?

Just occurred to me that the ball thing would make a nice RAM mount if the size is similar. Hello rear-facing footage!

Got the two letters, called my local dealer and they made an appointment for today. Dropped off at 9:30, picked up same day.
The Good:
- Bike runs like a champ
- No (observed) questionable work or "service dings" added
- No problem at all with the warranty parts or service
The Better:
- My suspected faulty CCT was both observed and confirmed
- Parts for THIS issue ordered and will be repaired under extended warranty :wheel:
The Best:
- Kids Toy Run tomorrow, have my bike and will not miss it!

Do the 98-99 headers bolt on to the 2002+ exhaust system?

3. remove the charcoal canister. This saves weight and the thing only gets in your way during oil filter changes.
And it is to be found where, exactly? :goofy:
