  1. You don't have to do both. I think most just use the marble trick to plug the pair hoses. Plates just make it look better as you can ditch the whole system.
  2. Ok guys. I just called today and got my 2 sets ordered. Dan said the faster everyone on the list calls him and gets their order placed the faster he can get the materials and get started. So please, give him a call so we can get this going. He was going to get the machining part of the process set up after I got off the phone with him today so the ball is definately rolling now.
  3. Amen. I am just glad that Dan decided to do this. He wasn't really interested at first but decided to after reading the thread and seeing all the folks that were interested in them.
  4. Ok. I spoke with Dan again today. He was amazed at the interest in these so here is the low down. I have sent him the list. Everyone that wants a set just needs to contact him through the number on his website http://www.aaperf.com/contact.html and provide their payment information. He said that he would get started on them immediately and it should take approximately 3 - 4 weeks to deliver them. They will be just like the ones pictured on his website (orangeish colored anodized machined aluminum plates with stainless hardware). Price is 50.00 a set which includes shipping in the conus. Outside the conus will be extra. As this thread was just a feeler to find out if it would be worth his time, anyone that did not get on the list just needs to contact hime and will be able to get a set as he is going to make some extras. Thanks to all that replied to this thread stating that they wanted a set as you are the ones that made this happen. Can't wait to get mine.
  5. Thanks Mac. This puts us at 11. I did not think the list would fill up so fast.
  6. Thanks VFR800Ryan. This makes 10. I will get with Dan today and let him know. As soon as I speak to him I will let everyone know how long it will be and how he wants everyone to order. Also, I am sure he will not have just 10 sets of plates made up so there should be some for others that need a set.
  7. Thanks Togan. 2 more to go. I also see you are from Oklahoma. I just got back into riding this past fall so I am trying to get the bikes ready for this coming spring. I have met a few other "Okie" riders here so hope to meet you soon. Make sure to introduce yourself on the forum.
  8. This is the reason that I wanted to go with the A&A plates. There are many companies out there that make plates. Most of them are made for the CBR's and they will fit the VFR but just not perfect. Also, most of the e-bay plates are just cut from thin aluminum and not milled. I read for hours on other motorcycle sites and I found that even on VFR world, some of the members there had used the cheaper plates and later changed over to Dan's because of the quality.
  9. Not sure about the 3rd gen either. I only know for sure that the 5th and 6th gen has this system.
  10. They are 50.00 for the set. I think that includes shipping but I a not sure. You can look on toro1's webiste (A&A performance) and see them. They are high quality, machined, and anodized aluminum plates with stainless hardware included. Compared to the other ones sold on the net nothing comes close to the quality and fit.
  11. PAIR block off plates are used to disable the PAIR system. Basically, this system is used to introduce fresh air into the exhaust system to lower emissions levels coming out of the exhaust. If you run a PCV with auto tune or take your bike to a tuner shop this system has to be disabled to get an accurate reading. There are other ways of disabling the system but this is the cleanest way to do it.
  12. Thanks switchblade. We only need 7 more and we are there.
  13. Sorry, I should have mentioned that these are for the 5th and 6th gen's. They are the same for 98 and up.
  14. I posted a few days ago asking if anyone knew of alternative PAIR block off plates besides the A&A ones. I had e-mailed Dan (toro1) and he sent a reply back that he was out and wasn't even sure if or when he was going to make another production run of these. After searching for many hours I have found that these are the only ones that are specifically made for the VFR. There are others out there that will work but they are kind of "universal" so they don't fit that well on the VFR. Anyway, Dan actually got back in touch with me and he said if we could get 10 people together that wanted a set he would do a special run of them for VFRD members. So I am starting a list here and if anyone needs a set of the best made VFR block off plates just add your name to the list. This might be the last time to get these. 1. huntinggunns 2. VcFR 3. 15. I will use the bike in my avatar as an example. It was a RWB purchased from Lubbock motorsport in Texas. The gentleman I bought it from (original owner) had made a replica movistar bike out of it. Could not sell it for anywhere near what he had in it even though it had only 2,000 miles on it and he had all the orignal parts sitting there for it. I made one of the best deals of my life on that bike.
