  1. Wow! It feels like I haven't been on this thread in decades! Anyway, for those who have opted to buy a set of headers for your VFR, please check your PM folder as I just sent out a bunch of PMs for you to review and get back to us. If you did not receive a PM from me and did place an order, please send me a PM to let me know. I'm pretty sure I got to everyone but sometimes a few can slip through the cracks. Cheers, D
  2. Yes. Myself and sfdownhill are the two main members involved with this project, so if the thread was created by either of us, then it could be considered as "official". Although there are a few other members who hand a hand in getting this to come to fruition.
  3. It works really well IMO, although being behind the fairing does muffle it a little bit but it's definitely louder than the OEM horn, it has caught the attention of a few motorist though. I thought about relocating it in a more open area but in all honesty I don't use it all that much, only in the rarest situations that calls for it and/or an evasive action. The size of it definitely makes it easier to find a possible mounting location.
  4. Although not the full size Stebel, I put a Sound Bomb Mini inside the left had side fairing where Marooncobra mentioned. I used an aluminum bar and bolted it to the fairing sub frame. Here are some pics. The specs for the Sound Bomb Mini... Size comparison with a GoPro Hero 2 The Aluminum bar mounting location and final results
  5. Sorry for any delays folks, I've been actually getting work lately and that has higher priority at the moment. As for how many currently on "order". My spreadsheet shows 11 deposits but 2 of those are 8 Gens, so 9 5/6 gens at the moment. I've been doing my best at getting the message out there, even been on the FB VFR forums but most of those guys seem happy to go with the Black Widow or Delkevic headers... Cheers, D
  6. Hey folks, just heard back from sfdownhill, he has been traveling for the past few weeks, so that is the reason for any delays in responses to PMs to him (us) and any post on this thread. Although not traveling, my work has picked up at a much needed time, as my bank account has been getting real low! Anyway, SF said he would be back at it in a couple of days and should be able to update us all. Again, many apologies for not getting back to anyone in a timely manner. Cheers, D
  7. I believe we hit the minimum number of deposits so Wade should be gearing things up. We'll post up as soon as we have an update.
  8. According to my spread sheets a total of 61, 26 for the first run and 35 for second run, the latter of which had 8 Gen and 5/6 Gens.
  9. OK folks, getting near go time, we are one deposit away from making this happen, if you're sitting on the fence or know someone who might want in, please step up and join the fray!
  10. Not sure if this info was ever posted and since we did receive an inquiry regarding weight, here is what I was able to gather using a luggage scale. Not sure of the accuracy i.e. +/- X% but seems to be pretty good for shipping stuff. Anyway, here are some weights I gathered. Replica Headers: 9.42 lbs. 1999 OEM Headers: 10.56 lbs. 2009 OEM Headers: 13.94 lbs.
  11. I think all but one asked for no pasivation, maybe 2... The passivation is more for "curing" the welds than for protecting the actual whole headers. I believe that sfdownhill had posted what the actual process entails somewhere here on this thread.
  12. Just to give an update. We currently have a new list going and are at the minimum number we need, just waiting on confirmation of the deposits. Most likely we will be there to move forward within the next week or so. If you are thinking about getting a set, now would be the time to chime in. Send me (Duc2V4) and sfdownhill a PM and we can get you sorted out. Cheers, D I thought I'd add pricing here just to make it easy. Headers: $830.00 Passivation: $90.00 Gaskets: $20.00 (set of 4) PC Map: $50.00 Shipping: TBD (Based on your location) Prices range from $50-$90 within the lower 48.
  13. Yes, we are taking orders now and have at least 3 confirmed on the list. You can add your name to it if you like. I will be sending you a PM shortly with ordering details.
  14. Not to flog a dead horse but I did find a picture of the aluminum one after it gave up the ghost...
  15. So I spoke with SF today. He said if people want in for another batch, please feel free to PM the both of us and let us know, we’ll put you on the list...
  16. Oh yeah, in regards to the K&N air filter recommendation, it was selected as the one used for the Dyno tuned bike, so we have a known working sample. No other airbox or intake mods were done on any of the bikes as far as I recall. Note however that K&N has two models of the air filter BUT both have the same part number (Go figure?!). One of them however has a much larger square inch coverage with the filter material. Not sure how to order and get the latter one other than possibly call K&N directly.
  17. All 8 Gen headers have been sold and I believe all but maybe 1 of the 5/6 Gen headers. SF has more details on the 8 Gen fitment, as he was working with the builder and had use of fellow member samuel’s bike. That being said, most of the aftermarket cans link pipe may have to be expanded to a 51mm ID , depending on what bike you have I.e. 6/8 Gen vs. 5 Gen. There’s also some brake line routing and heat shield fussing you’ll have to deal with on the 8 Gen. I thought SF posted the little caveats and idiosyncrasies of the 8 Gen setup but he’ll have to answer that. Not sure how this pandemic will affect any immediate future builds but I can say the the builder was open to a smaller number in order to start the next batch. I haven’t spoken with SF in a while in regards to even entertaining another batch but at the time we did speak, we were both open to doing it again.
  18. My verdict is that it didn't seem to last any longer than the plastic ones. I already replaced mine, probably should have written down the mileage but alas I don't think I did, sorry. I did think that I could use a bolt the same size as the one that holds the sprocket, to act as a mould and use some JB weld to rebuild the inner part of it but kind of gave up on that idea. I also thought of doing the same thing with the plastic ones using some plastic epoxy but again, probably more work than it's worth. TLDR: Didn't last any longer than the plastic OEM one for me.
  19. That was my fault, the FedEx web site auto-filled your address in and I thought I had double checked before clicking the "ship" button. Sorry guys, I'll try better next time!
  20. Wow! sounds like quite a few of you have received your goods already. Have to say I got scolded the other day on Facebook when I posted about these being done and that I was helping get them boxed up. I was accused of being HIGHLY irresponsible for even leaving the house, let alone meeting up with someone. Apparently me shipping out "crappy" headers (the term they used) was a higher priority to me than the safety and well being of others. I retorted in my usual sarcastic tone but had to put on a serious face and explain the entire situation. It probably didn't help that I had said I ignored the "stay at home order". Which at the time was, you can go outside and walk/walk your dog, visit public places but no gatherings of more than 10 or more, maintain good distance and cleanliness discipline. All of which were complied with. Heck, I even brought my own packing tools (tape gun, gloves, etc.) so that SFDownhill and I would not cross contaminate. This was in addition to keeping 6 feet or more away from each other as well as being outdoors! Anyway, not a big deal, no one was harmed in this venture, everyone is getting their stuff and best of all I can now relax and know that I made some VFR folks very happy! I will add I did have a similar post here to the one I had on FB but decided to delete it, I'd rather not make any "enemies" on a world class top notch forum! Cheers, D
  21. Well PMs with tracking numbers have been sent out to all those expecting a header or headers. Please PM me if you were expecting a PM with a tracking number but did not receive it. CHEERS!
  22. OK folks, my bad but I'm sure I will be forgiven shortly. I was supposed to update everyone who bought headers yesterday that their package was dropped off at FedEx and should be on its way to them. Unfortunately this applies only to the domestic shipments, as we use the USPS for international shipments (much cheaper) but getting to the Post Office has been a challenge (see below). Rest assured we will do our very best to get ALL shipments out this week. I'm multi-tasking at the moment, as I'm working from home, like I typically do ironically, but for some reason today and yesterday got real busy with conference phone calls, emails and support calls. So I may not get you a PM with your tracking number until later today. That being said, stay safe and healthy and let's hope this pandemic will blow over soon! Cheers, D
