    Hiya Johnnie...

Even though Freddie Spencer had an RC45 during his High-Performance
Riding School days he would instead dice with the students on his
    VFR...

Years ago I bought Feddies 6th gen VFR that he used for two-up rides at the school. Other than the suspension and stickers it was stock, and he could fly on that bike. Me, not so much.....

I'd recommend looking at multiple reviews, as most found it to be snake oil. What was that old oil additive from the 80s that turned out to kill engines? lol

You may also like Lucas and Seafoam products...which also seem to do nothing positive.

That was mildly entertaining, and food for thought, but MCN did chemical analysis every 2 weeks for 6 months with Ethanol Free gas.

Any bike/car that sits for long periods of time should have Ethanol Free gas in it. My lawn mower likes E-0 better as well, the snow blower is stored with no fuel.

Climate will also play a role, as where I live the humidity level is often below 30% and sometimes below 10%.

What are everyones thoughts on using Sta-bil fuel stabilizer?

Years ago Motorcycle Consumer News did a 6 month scientific test of fuel stabilizers. By far the best rating went to Startron.

Switching from Sta-bil to Startron has proved to reduce issues with our fleet (now 70+) of MSF training bikes which sit for 3 months a year. It has also helped with the too many carbureted bikes in my garage, some of which see only 500-1k miles per year.

I like your style. The correct number of VFR's is N+1, where N is the number you currently have. I did ride a brand new 8th against my then-current modified 5th gen (suspension upgrades and delinked brakes) and honestly there was nothing in it. The 8th "felt" new with a nicer, tighter clutch and gearbox, but that was really all I noticed. It will be interesting to hear your thoughts.

Pretty much agree with you. Feels like a very good "modern" bike, nice gearbox, and the whole thing feels tight. My 5th gen has suspension, Sargent, and Helibars. 4th gen has suspension, corbin, and Helibars. Both have Staintune pipes.

Even with risers the 8th gen ergos are a bit much for my 60+ year old bones. It would be great on the track. The smooth quiet air flow is awesome, after 2 years with a Tracer GT and 1 year with a Multistrada which are LOUD even with shorty windshields.

Jury is still out, but not looking good for the 8th gen.....

  5. Contemplated...... Do I really need 3 VFRs ? Picked up an 8th gen DLX thinking it could be the "One" vfr.

Rode the 4th and 5th yesterday for the 1st time in months. Tomorrow the 8th and 5th go head to head.

After 10+ years, and about a dozen other bikes, the 4th and 5th have remained. Ergos, looks, sound, feel, they just do it for me.

The last time I had three VFRs, the 6th gen was voted off the island. The new to me 8th gen may be the weakest link.... Tomorrow...VFRs9262023(44)b.thumb.jpg.9b4c01b00619a4816419259c715b2d5e.jpgVFRs9262023(45)b.thumb.jpg.25cdfdfe9aeaab7db09a62dacb46cf04.jpg

If it's over 95°f, the airflow thru the mesh will make you hotter than if you are sealed up.  You'll dehydrate faster also.  It's better to seal up, or use vents to give a little airflow.

    Yes, and no.....

Rode in vented jacket and pants for 200 miles today, at 95-102 degree temps.

Long sleeve T-shirt and base layer bottoms made it more than bearable.

    Same principal, different gear.

So if I understand you correctly, a Honda Hawk/NT650 rear axle will work for the VFR 750, just need to drill a different pattern for the drive pins?

Yes, and no.... drill the drive pins to pattern, but the axle is shorter so you need the smaller nt650/bros cush drive as well. Rotor is smaller diameter, and also has different bolt pattern, so easiest to get the nt/bro's one and caliper hanger. Bros parts are cheap as chips in the UK, i think......

Summary, Axle with drive pins moved, Cush Drive, rotor and caliper hanger all from the nt/bros = bobs your uncle :) add nc30/35/ducati wheel (Duc wheel will need 2.5mm spacer to make up for the offset, goes between wheel and axle).
