If you want I'll continue hosting and maintaining the invision license. I'm in IT and am intimately familiar with what's required.
Forums shutting down like this is a huge knowledge drain and will hurt future VFR owners as the bikes age into classics and collectables.
It would be a shame for decades of info to be thrust into the darkness instead or kept afloat on a life raft.
We can migrate you to a free LetsEncrypt certificate there's no need for a paid one for a non-commercial site.
Shoot me a message here or Facebook if you'd be interested. I would make no changes, and just continue to maintain it on a technical and fiscal level.
Please, no. Let's stop putting knowledge under their ownership, I've already lost another forum of over a decade to them that they ended up shutting down.Your plan sounds better. 👍

At the risk of getting flamed, maybe you should sell to VerticalScope or someone like that, Miguel.
Cash in your chips instead of just walking, but the site could live on.
Worked for the founder of Ducati.ms, which is still a good site I may add. 👍

Sorry to hear it Miguel. I have been a member here a long time, but not as active the last years. It's a great site. Hopefully someone else can take over running it. Good luck whatever you do.

Wait until you have to clean around the front sprocket some day. Not fun, nothing seems to dissolve that stuff.
I haven't gotten there yet with the wax. But the oily stuff (PJ1 was what I used) made a horrible mess in there. Lots of grit too.

Chain wax seems to attract quite a bit less grime than the oily stuff. 😉

I wondered what the new owner has done with it.
Hoped it's treating him well, and he's liking it as much as I did.

maybe i'm missing something obvious.
Sounds like a good possibility.
Hope you have your Doh! moment and figure it out soon.

Very nice work Dr Frankenstein.
Err, Seb.
May you make lots of money at this.
Someone hook Seb up with a Rock Star that likes bikes.

Lee, how much do you think this moved the bars up and back versus a stock setup?
Wish I had a definite answer. Maybe a couple inches up and back, and a bit wider too.
Maybe less, small changes can make a big difference sometimes.
But, I'm just guessing. Have not had a chance to compare it side by side with a stock 5th gen bike.
I can say it is noticeably more comfortable for me, and I'm happy with it.

Getting it "right" would mean failing the emissions standards.
You just need a little old act of Congress right?
Good luck with that.
-
Never say never, eh?
Good luck with it KKKKen.
May you see a nice increase in your slush fund,
and some VFR riders get a nice piece of kit.

OK, salesman gene kicking in maybe.
I like the look of those.
Don't want the expense or install job. I just wanna ride.

Both Apes have hydraulic clutches. Have only had 1 time the clutch went soft on the older one.
Time for bleeding. The rear brakes oto on the thing are notorious for going soft.
Minimal stopping power when they work. Who needs rear brakes anyway?
The fronts have never been a problem. They are great.
It's that Italian character.

Thank you, but you don't need me for the........
Not the salesman type, eh? Me neither.

Is there anything in Harbor Freight you don't have but still could use in your shop, Seb?
You are the man with the good tolls, and know how to use them.
It's not something I ever plan to do, but interesting to read.

Just like my subframe where the robot missed the mark:
A clear violation of Asimovs 3 laws.

I have stock 5th gen clip ons laying in the garage, since I replaced them with an LSL superbike bar.
No grips or throttle tube or anything. Don't know if they would work for you, but if so PM me.

Nice writeup man. I'm thinking some of the close up photos are a bit fuzzy.
Possibly because the coffee was gone this morning,
then there was a good ride,
and now it's past beer:30.

Ride hard. Put away wet.
Maybe dry off with one of those garage towels.

I just bought a TomTom which has a permanently attached ball socket with a suction cup for attachment.
It has a dial or whatever above the suction cup that you turn to pull the cup in and make it stick to the windshield.
Not sure that's a good description, but it works easy in my truck.
For the VFR was thinking about using the stickon smooth disk they include for mounting with the cup somewhere that's not smooth.
And putting it on the horizontal part of the fairing under the handgrip. It wouldn't be in the way I don't think,
but would not be easy to see at a glance. Should probably get a bluetooth headset too. Hmm.
-
You put that thing on your light colored carpet....... !!!!!!!!!
Says the guy who was knee deep in rain water trying to help me right my VFR...
Missed that story. Guess it worked out OK.

Hmm. I guess $800 for used unobtanium is pretty good.
I sold a similarly crusty 2 can system for an Aprilia with 1 dented can for $500 and I paid the $50 shipping.
It was easily available new, if you wanted to spend $1,400.
Edit, Canuck popped in there while I was typing.
Sweet!
I am going to shut down vfrd soon

C'mon Miguel. This is a truly great site.
Multiple people want to keep it going.
Please let them. You will always be the founding father. 👍
