First figure out why the bearing did go out . Is there an obstruction in one of the main oil bearing supply chanals ?
Clean the engine very very good !!! Use new conrod bolts !!
-
Fotodadi i hope Honda will supply you a new engine. Good luck.

It is possible to dyno a DCT. You have to fool de ECU : take the ABS sensor and sensor ring. Make an interface ring and holder and attach them on the rear wheel.
The ecu "thinks" that the front wheel is turning and the DCT will shift gears.
I have dynoed my mates DCT it took some effort but we have managed it

For overall improvement of the driveability a PC-v gives the most noticed improvement overall on a 2010 and 2011 VFR1200f. Go for a custommap forget auto tune.
-
Yep, I've got a PCV and Auto Tune installed. The de-restriction is a totally separate deal and doesn't mess with the fueling. It just fools the ECU into thinking you're in 3rd gear when you're actually in 1st or 2nd. Went for my first ride today and the bike ran great. Nice difference especially in 2nd gear. This is not a super-expensive mod and I can't imagine anyone with a VFR1200F that wouldn't want to do this. It doesn't change the bike significantly or turn it into a fire-breathing monster. It just makes it react to the throttle the way you'd expect it to.
The chart makes it look as if there is upwards of 50 untapped hp in 2nd gear if you decide to roll on it... I would think that for a light to light race, this mod is going to make this bike significantly quicker....?
The difference restricted / un restricted is not that big. In all day use say touring around the block the difference is not so clear. But if you go into the mountains and you ride in a more sports style out of hairpins, the difference is very clear. The torque low down is always present. Just as to be expect with a 1200 cc engine. I have fiited an akrapovic exhaust and a PC-v. The oem lazyness lowdown is completely gone. Power output is far more liniair. So driveability has improved a lot. That is what i needed.
Why is the mod not working on a DCT model ? The aswer is simpel. If the ecu or the rider has chosen 1st gear the ecu has to know if the gear change was sucsesfull and ready. ( It is a closed loop system ). If you remove the feedback ( do the mod ) the ecu gets no feedback its waiting if the gear change was made. The DCT will not make another gear change . So a work arround is not easy you will need a "fooling" ecu that gets the gearchange triggers from the main DCT ecu.
I did manage to get the gear indicator right even with the mod applied. I have decoded the link between the ecu the tach unit and the gearposition switch. It needed a pic processor and some C++ programming to get it working.

What an interesting news. The derestriction of the 1st and 2nd gear has been around here on this forum for almost 2 year.
-
The 2012 has tranction control so 1st and 2nd gear are not restricted any more. And fueling is improved by Honda, so the need for a PC-v or Z bomb is gone, as long you use the OEM exhaust.
-
Derestriction on a dct does not work. The ecu has to know wich gear is selected.
For manual transmission the mod works great. Effect on milleage yes if you use the bike hard i will consume more fuel.

Sorry i do not understand your post. please explain ....
-
This topic is about derestriced 1st and 2nd gear. Not about exhausts. So mod ......................
-
Any news about the availability of the connectors for the plug able derestrictor ?
-
Thank you very much !

What do you mean with a little more than a powercommander ? What are the differences ?
-
Albeit I want this mod with a passion and dont like being told by anyone let alone Honda how much power I am trusted with, I havnt read here from anyone who has done the mod how good it is, is the power difference enough to make the bike wheelie in first gear off the throttle is the gain in 2nd gear really noticable
I really dont want to start chopping the loom and risk the warrenty issues if the cons outway the pros if you see what I mean
I didnt want to wait for the Bazzaz harness which would be like 40 bucks since all the cuts can be done on the GPS harness and not the main harness. I figure at worst case scenario and I have a warranty issue i can replace the GPS for 65 bucks or so and get it back to factory. I shoulda did this mod sooner. Its that good.
My dealer told me de ECU reprogramming or ECU upgrade is a hoax. Honda did not inform him about a upgrade. For now a PC-v and the 1st and 2nd gear derestriction will cure a lot :)
Reprogramming ECU is scheduled next week for my VFR. :)
In france, dealers are informed about this update.
I expect an improvement in low speed.
Thanks for your information. Keep us informed !

With the mod done de VFR will wheely in 1st gear without using the clutch. On a damp road it will spin the back wheel in 2nd.
with the mod done fast acceleration is much smoother because there is no big torque increase @ 5000 rpm.

I would also prefer a plug and play version of this mod rather than buying a PC5 or alike any news on this being available
thanks guys
The problem is the connectors i can not buy them. So i have to cut some wires. The moddification is simple though.

Just saw the latest Motorcyclist has a blurb on the 1200 and VFRD got an honorable mention on the power derestriction of 1st and 2nd
Have not seen any money yet
And PC-V is available and will give the 1200 the low down wings its deserves.

My derestricion is working for 2500 km now. I accept the false reading at the gear position indicator in 1st and 2nd gear. Cost $5 and 2 hours work.
The bike wheelys off the trottle in 1st gear
Phobe what are your experiences whith the derestricion of 1st and 2nd gear ?

Thanks for the How To !
Step 1 is remove the lover fairing. Then proceed as in the How To
-
I'm a structural engineer :(, not electrical. But I do know V = I*R :)
That should be enough :) Just ride the VFR1200f and enjoy !

For the DCT the only mod possible is the speed derestriction mod. I you tell the ecu that the speed is 250 km/h while riding faster there is no error generated.
I am no Honda technichan but an electrical engineer.
Great!
The problem I see is that the ECU also uses the speed to determine gear change. The challenge will be to build some circuit that will allow the speed signal to get to the ECU at lower speeds (so that gear changes can occur) and cut the signal at high speeds so that the restriction is lifted (since the bike would already be in high gear). A "high speed" switch might do the trick but right now I can even find the wire (still looking for the wiring diagram)
An alternative will be to switch to manual mode when this switch is flipped. In manual mode, the ECU doesn't need to know the speed (since rider is changing gears himself)........but then another problem, ho do you prevent the engine from stalling? OR not. Since there is no speed, ECU might not engage next gear change (even though you gave the signal from the paddle).
So many unknowns!!!
Search continues!
On the ABS modulator is a signal available VSP out. VSP goes to indicator panel and to the ecu.
Interfere in the wire to the ECU. Make a frequency compartor If VSP > 250 km/h then set frequency to ecu at 250 km/h [hz]. Pb me for the calculations.
