  1. Its been busy at work and I just found the thread, I will be in Castlegar around the same time, but, it will be on the XR650L or the VTX1800T. Sadly... a gent offered me an nice sum for my VFR that I could not turn down (50,000 km on it). One day I will be back on the VFR, but for now I have been re-bitten by the dual sport and cruiser bikes again. I informed the new owner of VFRD and all the fine folks. Ride Safe !!
  2. looking good Ian, I will be in Victoria / Duncan Sept 6-13th.
  3. Switchblade, All the photos I had and measurements and quotes from last year when I tried to do this are all gone. My computer had a massive stroke and died. I had them on my work laptop, my ex employer, and after reading the posts and getting all excited I asked if I could get my hands on the laptop. All deleted. Thus the reason I am going to do the Admore or Anik light trick. Lots of snow here still so I have a few months before I can do anything.
  4. Of what? The mirror extender blocks or the GSXR mirror adapters? I have the extender blocks (came with my bike) but I have never used them. As far as that acrylic block, I've used that stuff in the past. One tip I remember is that when you cut it, it's white, but you can take a propane torch and lightly pass it over the cut part to turn it clear as well. I have the clear extenders blocks somewhere in my shop. The GSXR adapters had been a loaned to me while I tried to get them copied. I do not have those anymore and unfortunately cannot get my hands on them again.
  5. last year I managed to get a pair, and took them to 8 different machine shops here in Edmonton and Calgary. At that time, it was a min order of 80 sets @ $120.00 each or so. I did send the sets to a 6th gen owner in Vancouver, who tried to get something going there, pretty much the same results. I am not sure if Lobster still makes the mirror extenders, if so, you can buy them unpainted so you can install the LED like Anik did ( post #92 ). I bought 3 sets of clear extenders and I also managed to scoop up a set of GSXR 750 signals that all currently sit in a box in shed. So, the route I am going is this. I have bought the following for my XR650L from Admore lighting. My XR only has the headlight, no signals that stay on like the VFR. But like the VFR, crappy "see me now" or "im turning" feature to oncoming vehicles. So when the snow melts, I will install on the handguards of the XR and the stock mirrors of the VFR. http://admorelighting.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=130 I also use Admore's lighting kit in my GIVI V46/V36 bags. Turn signal, brake, and running light function. You can see my bike a mile away from the back, I am sure this will have the same result for the front.
  6. I can not help you there, my photos where on my work laptop and I do not work for that company as of 7 weeks ago. One of them members did the following:http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/index.php/topic/65080-acrylic-mirror-extenders-with-leds/
  7. A few people have tried to get contact Darth with no luck. What he made could have been a one time shot and he is no longer doing them and as he has not posted after many requests, its safe to say hes done. Others, myself included had a set in hand and tried to re-fab, but the initial cost of material / lab was not worth it in my case. I hate to say it, but your going to reinvent the wheel if you want it.
  8. Its the weekend.. rain again...

  9. I have the Givi DS / smoked and it works great.
  10. Sara is the person who just types in your vin and on a standard letter of "so sorry to hear your problem". I have seen many of those in my lifetime from customers who hit the same roadblock. Worst yet, she works in the car division. As Rob mentioned, contact the Service Area Manager for the UK region as well as the Service Manager in Japan. If possible try to get both of their emails and CC them both. If you send a letter, make it "signature required" by that individual(s). Hammer them. I will also send in a letter for your support and that of any other individual. No matter if the bike is currently under warranty or out of warranty, in the serial number or outside the VIN recall. Honda failed to keep the quality of their production line to the high standards they claim and admitted there is a problem. Pretty hard to push any new bike that comes off the line when your new VFR has a major issue and your telling those customers they are just SOL.
  11. I don't remember any collars or shims sitting behind the bolt head of the stock mount bolt. In any case it should not matter as you will remove all of the factory mount bolt and use all new parts that come with the R&G kit. Comes with its own spacers, washers, nuts. Very complete kit, just don't think the rubber hose on the long stud is part of the install, it's not. I belive the only reason it's on there is to prevent any possible dings or buggers to the center section of the stud so that it installs smoothly. Thanks... I thought so, but I wanted to make sure before hand. Now, to find the time and get this done.
  12. I have my RG sliders and looking to do this mod soon. I have to get over the hump of drilling holes into the fairings . Anyways, from Boneman or anyone who has installed the kit, when you push the RG rod thru from the left, is there a collar - shim or anything that I need to watch out for that might fall out on the right hand side once the OEM bar comes through?
  13. I decided to go with the Pilot Road 2's F and R over the Angel ST ( which I still want to try ). My needs for a great tire are mileage and rain performance on a fully loaded VFR. Corners, draggin the knee do not really happen on the roads in Northern Alberta or even when I go to British Columbia, so not to concerned with that aspect. My BT021 made about 12,000km's, my 023 hit 14,000 ( way better in the rain than the 021 ). So, I will see how these work for me. New chain/sprockets ( JT-DIDVM530 ) and tires at 40,000km. The roads are almost clear enough to pull the bike out and ride. fingers crossed for this weekend.
  14. Forks have been sent to Jamie D for tender lovin care New chain and sprockets - Currently have 27,000ish km and should be able to get at least 4000km more. DID ZM chan and JT sprockets I have a set of Angel St's that I might throw on, or sell them and go with the Pilot Road 3 ( rear B spec ). New riding gear.
  15. Any specific style Flasher ( make / Model ) I know it has to be a LED styled unit. I just got a pair of clear front signal lens's for my 2002 that I am going to change around. Going with the Orange 45-LED SMT for the front signals
