  1. What if I used a vacuum switch set real high, like 22+ inches, to make the brake light come on when you're under heavy braking? How about maybe just lighting 1 of the 2 bulbs? Would there be any thing wrong with doing this?

Sounds like a damn good idea if ya ask me! I can't tell you the number of times I've wished people behind me knew when I was engine braking ALOT. I try to tap the lever but I think this is a good idea.

    PS

Can't wait to see the "How To."

  2. So HIDs are getting really cheap and ya'll know my luck with head lamps. HIDs are supposed to be longer life and I'm hoping the electronics will cancel any electrical grimlens I either have or have not on my bike. My question is this...

Main lamps are H4s and the single beam HIDs are really cheap. High beams are H7 (right?). So, I'm thinking of changing out both and really light up the night. Since the new digital ballists are plug and play I should be able to simply plug the H4s in and then the H7s in and everything should work as is..... right? I mean but a butt load brighter. Right?

  3. Had my bike in today for an oil change and my service manager said he had some interesting news about "my bike." I replied "recall on the wiring harness?" He was amazed that I knew this already. Told him what a bid deal it was and the entire community had basically been making changes to the harnesses to keep them from shorting out. I asked him if people had made modifications to their bikes how would that be looked upon. He said as far as he was concerned this is not warranty work and it wouldn't matter what someone had done to their bike. Also, he said it would be some time before the customers would receive notification as Honda has to fill the pipeline of parts to put onto the bikes. Once a safe stock of parts is established you'll see the letters.

Now for the interesting part. I told him that was cool but it wasn't for my bike as it's an 07... right? Cause he said "something interesting about YOUR BIKE." He continued to explain that Honda did finally determine that the wire harness ALONE caused the fire on my 02. He got an additional email from our District Service Manager to him personally explaining the findings which were a major point with moving forward with the recall. One part of the letter basically expressed Honda had a MAJOR concern that what happened to my bike could/would happen again and that the next poor bastard might not be so lucky as to get out only with a hot ass. I am glad that my down time last fall ends up with a positive note.

I just hope that everyone gets their "fix" before there are any more situations like mine. If your bike is running fine one minute and then starts missing really bad... and cuts in and out really bad.... assume the worst and pull over and check everything out. Don't do like I did last fall and try to ride it out. The end result was bad for me.. could be worse for you.

  4. I too have the silver stars on my 02. Very good product. Just make sure you buy the MOTORCYCLE lamp and not the one for the cars. The cycle lamp has a much heavier filiment due to lamps running all the time. If you get the car lamps you will be replacing them too often as they only last about three months. But, these will give you about 40% more light/vision than the standard lamps... much whiter light!

  5. It's offical!  I'm a dumb ass!  I had the exact same Givi bags on my 919.     I love those bags, and I'm seriously thinking about getting another set and the SW Motec mounts.  If you'd like to see my 919 with them on goto, twistedthrottle.com and check out the install on the 919.  That was my bike at the 2002 Indy Dealers Show.  Very cool show and all the free goodies were even better.

  6. Oh Boy!  Am I feeling like a dumb ass right now!  I let my Givi hard bags go with my 919 when I sold it.  I had the SW Motech rig on the 9er but never thought those bags would work on the VFR.  (nerver thought is the problem)  All the pics on this forum were dead, any chance of getting a picture of what your finished product looked like?  I'll most likely be feeling even more stupid when I see them.  SHaaaaaz Bot!
