I used the small magnet on the left to place the shim on the valve stem, and the larger one in the middle to remove the bucket. It's a flashlight with telescopic, gooseneck head. The ring around the lens is magnetic. It's just a bit smaller than the diameter of the bucket.

Here are the cam holders and buckets from the front intake camshaft removed and stored in an egg carton to keep things straight.

Front intake camshaft removed. I used the flashlight on the right to remove the buckets. It is telescopic with a gooseneck and a magnetic ring around the lense.

  8. I installed mine into a small hobby box and carry it in the map window of my tank bag so that takes care of the waterproof issue. It's a non-permanent installation as it connects with an SAE (trailer) plug. But back to the original topic, very nice install by the OP.

I secured it with a longer 6x30 bolt and lock washer. The threaded stud is just there now to prevent it from rotating. Seems secure enough but I havent completed the repairs yet. I bought the VFRness, r/r and stator from WireMyBike. Unfortunately I also had to use the included starter relay connector kit too.

New Rick's r/r. The threaded stud on the frame is too short. And requires longer bolt than the original.
