I do have solo racks. Lots of them.

    $140 USD includes shipping.

Send paypal to ken.irwin@bell.net and I'll send one out. Include style required (5 or 6gen)and your address.

I will refresh my ForSale ad as well.

Just wondering if you've ever considered making an adapter plate to fit the Solo Rack to a 4th gen. Which model do you think would be the better candidate?  I can send you pics of the 4th gen handle mounts if that would help.

  2. So far we have 25 confirmed attendees! The weather has been pretty good here and I've already been out and riding to work and a few short jaunts (still snow in the mountains and cold).

I still haven't gotten my lazy ass in gear to do the t-shirts, but never fear they will rear their heads before the meet. If the weather remains this mild I may do a reconnaissance run to Nelson in late April or early May.

Still no sign of my new bike from Honda but I hear rumblings the Africa Twins are starting to arrive in the USA so we can be far off. My prediction is still May.

It's raining today in Kaslo but it's been nice the last few days. Yesterday we put up the tennis nets and got out for a hit. That was good since I missed the last month of hockey due to a sprained knee. Pruned 4 apple tree- more to do still.

I haven't insured the bike yet but there are a few riders out there. I saw a Ducati Multistrada rider in town the other day but it's hard to look cool riding through downtown with your blinker on. And then I heard a pack of 3 sport bike riders take off on the highway just below my house.

BTW there's a local controversy about loud motorcycles with a petition circulating to have the RCMP enforce existing noise laws. Which won't be a problem with the Hootenanny because we're all riding on quiet, stock mufflers, right?

  3. Here's an 8-spoker but it's attached to a '94 with extras.

It's actually one of the better RC45 paint jobs I've seen on a 4th gen. And it has a left exit exhaust but curiously no pictures of that side of the bike. Or maybe owner has just removed the exhaust for the photo as it still has the centrestand, which would interfere with a LEE.

  4. There's another one on there now that's been there for a while - for $375, but the seller is not offering shipping - local pickup only. It's in Bradford, Ontario.

I always find it funny that someone would post to eBay, the most global site known to man, and yet the only option is local pickup. Kinda limiting their audience.

And then you have companies in the US that won't ship to Canada. I don't understand that. They package it, pay postage. What difference where it's going as long as the customer is paying for the shipping cost.

  5. I have a Datel meter, but it's not installed because I'm clueless.

I installed mine into a small hobby box and carry it in the map window of my tank bag so that takes care of the waterproof issue. It's a non-permanent installation as it connects with an SAE (trailer) plug.

But back to the original topic, very nice install by the OP.

  6. Has anyone done this on a 4th gen?

Yes (and not by me) but only as a streetfighter or a naked bike. The problem is the fairing pocket is so tight that even the LSL kit says fairing modification is required. I bought a used set without cables but haven't installed it. I may try and find another bar that will allow it to work without cutting the fairing, but in the meantime, it is hanging on the wall above my workbench.

Here's a pic from Spiegler website where you see the fairing has been cutback: http://www.spieglerusa.com/handlebar-conversion-kit-4270.htm

  7. I can send you some pdf drawings showing the dimensions I would need. I can probably get this done by early september, I have several designs to leverage off of. Good info on the spring. I'll send off the pdf drawings tomorrow. Are you interested in the drop peg version or the straight peg version? I will eventually do both.

Good news on the timing. I'm interested in the drop peg. My knees need a little less bend in them these days.

    Thanks.

  8. I would be interested in making the pegs for the 4th Gen VFR. The simpliest way is to have an OEM peg to take measurements off of, or an entire rearset and peg. I can do it without the rearset, but would need several other measurements, and a OEM peg would still make it easier. However I'm just over booked until about the middle of September with new design request and committments. Meanwhile if someone wants to volunteer to work with me or Tightwad to gather the required measurements, I can at least have it available to get started. At first look I would almost want to change the single maile tab on the peg to a conventional fork tab, with the spring in the middle. Probably use a 5th or 6th Gen spring. Not neccessary, but would be stronger and better fitting. Let some of the forum members comment on what they think. Of course if a stock spring is $50 then it's not a good idea +1.gif Would have to include new springs with each set.

Great! Either design would be fine with me. I checked on Ron Ayers website and the spring costs $3.55, so that's not an issue.

I could get you dimensions of the OEM peg and rearset as needed. Let me know what you need.

Realistically it sounds like you wouldn't have a prototype until October though, which would only leave a few weeks of riding season. But I'm sure this would benefit other riders.
