  1. Yes that is what I’m planning to do. Not sure how air got in but a good bleed with my buddies mity vac hopefully will bring it back.
  2. Yes I have the service manual, it’s helped me keep the old school Honda tech working like a well oiled machine for the past 15 years but it’s also nice to hear from other vfr owners of their experiences with the bike as the years pile on.
  3. No I didn’t change the rear pads but thanks for that information. I have a digital copy of the service manual and will bleed the system per the manual.
  4. Thanks. No the rear brake doesn't work at all when the front brake is activated. When I do push the rear brake pedal it will lock the rear wheel while spinning the rear wheel while the bike is on the center stand. When I road the bike activating the rear brake felt like there was no effect on stopping. It also felt like the rear brake has additional travel and feels “soft”.
  5. I thought this board had shut down!! Anyway I changed the front pads on my ‘07 vfr, cleaned the calipers and pistons with brake cleaner and everything seemed to be good. I noticed on my shake down ride after the pad change the rear brake just stopped working, as if there is air in the line, no resistance at the rear brake pedal. The front brakes still work and nothing is leaking from the rear. Before I start the epic brake bleeding to see if that fixes the issue I thought I would check here to see if anyone has had the issue. The bike has been well cared for and garaged when not riding, I am the original owner. I went to VFRworld but got crickets, very quiet over there. In any case if anyone has some thoughts on the problem let me know.
  6. My vfr is still riding on its stock suspension, good to know about a new shock option.
  7. 130 is merging speed to get on the freeway in the city of Los Angeles. No I was supposed to have surgery a year ago but was put off due to Covid, busy at work etc. Started having some epic pain and finally got an mri which showed a lesion, basically a spot on my talus (ankle bone) was worn out into the marrow….I have flat feet and deformed ankles long story short as a nurse I’m finally sitting my butt down for the next few months and get to watch the pandemic on CNN. Had to pick up a few screws to realign the ankle and a whole host of things thus the no weight bearing for a few months……
  8. Put my CGR ‘07 on a tender, no riding or driving for 8 weeks.
  9. Lol the vfr is running great now and is a blast to ride but now that my wife is finally back to work I might snatch up one of these..........
  10. Went to the Honda shop to visit my ‘07 which is waiting for a new right side switch. The bike started acting funky and stopped running while on a busy Los Angeles freeway two weeks ago and had to be towed 30 some miles. The shop checked stator and regulator and all was reported to be good but the battery wiring harness was crispy and corroded and replaced which reportedly fixed the cutting out issue. Since the bike was being looked at I had them investigate a weird shorting issue with the 4 way flasher switch, every time I switched the flashers on it would blow out the 10 amp fuse. Taking apart the right hand switch and cleaning with contact cleaner did nothing, running through connectors and cleaning them didn’t do anything but clean them. I have lived with issue for awhile and basically just stopped using the 4 way flashers as a fix. The mechanic tried the cleaning thing with the switch with no joy so replacement was recommended, just waiting for the part. In 10 years of ownership the bike has had a bad ground issue which nearly left me stranded and this current breakdown so I suppose it’s not that bad but damn after nearly being run over my faith in the bike is pretty low, will have to see how it goes when I get it back. For now I’m blessed to have a NT700V and my Bking to ride. Both have been trouble free and I haven’t had to baby the electrical connections. Having thoughts about replacing the vfr with a gsxs750/1000 or go all the way and pick up a full on liter bike gsxr1000. Just thoughts.
  11. I keep it simple Honda branded dino m/c specific oil, honda oil filter every few thousand miles, no problems or concerns.
