  1. Sorry to hear that. I'll look for the thread.
  2. I have these installed as well. So far, so good, but you don't want to leave them on w/o the bike running!
  3. So how did you get it to start running good? First let me conceed that I have little time in on it. Second, it has never actually run bad, the PCV just didn't seem to be working. So, I don't know if it always "worked" and I just couldn't see it, or if it only now has started doing something. The ride home was fine, but hardly a time to get a feel for good or bad. Nothing felt "wrong". I've got to take it for inspection in a few which will give me some more opportunity to see. I've only accepted my first set of trims.
  4. As an FYI, I finally have everything functioning. I got home last night from my work commute and plugged in to look at the trims. I'm surprised that most are plus numbers! I really expected the bike to be running rich already and it would lean out. Sadly, my morning ride was pretty much at idle, but the ride home was a bit more normal. We'll see how this progresses. Thanks to everyone for the help.
  5. Yeah it does that for everyone. The trick is to select the table you want, right-click and choose "select all" then "copy" and then when you go to gear advanced you paste that map into each gear's table. You need to do this for both the map and autotune target AFR tables unfortunately! The best way to do it is do one - fuel map or autotune - save the map, then do the other one. Thanks Mate. I wouldn't have thought you needed to do this. Oh well, got some work to do.
  6. Ok, factory map, I have target afr and trim table. If I enable by gear for afr and fuel, I lose all afr targets. If I go back to basic, I don't get the targets back, I have to reload the basic map. Uh...???
  7. Totally makes sense, thanks. What's the per cylinder for then, the v-twin with two sensors, I guess?
  8. If your bike is a 2002-2005 model, you don't need gear advanced. "Basic Fuel" and "Basic AFR" are all you need, as only the 2006-2009 models have per-gear ECU maps. Have you calibrated your engine temps yet? Note that the calibrated values provided by GPM are for centigrade, not fahrenheit. For now, disable the engine temperature checkbox for the Autotune and just go with the 120 second delay. Go for a ride - you will get trim values even within a few minutes! To confirm the engine temperature stuff is working, you need to run the bike on the centrestand with the laptop connected, and make sure that the temperature reading in the Powercommander software shows up correctly, otherwise the temperature reading may never hit the value you have set in the Autotune. Here is the best way to go about your temperature calibration: Put bike on centrestand Connect a multimeter to the negative batter terminal and the temperature wire connected to the powercommander Set the multimeter to measure in the 2000 millivolts range Write ten temperature values on a piece of paper, starting at the top from 198 and working down to 98 Make sure the bike is cold, and start her up Let the bike run and begin to heat up Each time the temperature on the dash hits a value on your piece of paper, note the reading on the multimeter next to it Note that once the bike his 168 degrees, it will take a fair while to get up to 198 (because the coolant has to heat up) Keep this up until you have all the values from 98 to 198 written down Enter all these values into the temperature calibration fields in the powercommander software Let the bike cool down completely Remove the seat, plug the laptop into the powercommander and leave it running on a stool or table nearby where you can see it Start the bike back up, let it warm up and make sure that the temperature shown on the dash matches (within a few degrees) the temperature shown in the powercommander software. Set your autotune to enable at 168 degrees, and go riding! Its an 08, so that question stands. :-) I knew I wanted gear, but am unsure about gear + cylinder. Temps on the laptop match those on the LCD, so seems close enough. I stole some values Codewriter had in another thread. Thanks! hehe I just think my map got corrupted with all the messing around, so I think I'll be good now once I set the gear right.
  9. Getting there. I rode today, and came home to NOTHING in my tables. So, figuring I had bunged it all up with my adventures, I went back to square one with the map. I reloaded the one from Dynojet, and enabled auto tune. My question: Under advance/demote, what are you using for Fuel table and Target AFR? I know I want to be at gear advanced, but cylinder and gear for fuel and gear for afr, or??? Basic, i know, but I'm tired of starting over. I'm waiting 120 sec, and I set temp @ 90, maybe should be higher? Thanks gentlemen. Now I see I need to read the latest here.
  10. Excellent! I guess that means that if something isn't working right, try reflashing the device and see how that goes. Much quicker then having to send it back to Dynojet for them to do it That was easily the 4th time I had flashed it. Every other time it didn't seem to complete right, but would add in a recovery step and it *looked* correct. This time it went through start to finish no issues. Whew.
  11. Gents - I decided to download everything and start from scratch. Reloaded the software, etc. I just flashed the PCV and......IT WORKED! I get AFR, Temp, EVERYTHING!! Woo hoo! I guess my connections were ok after all. So, I dont know that I'll have much time to play, given the holiday and family, but I'm on my way!! Thanks for getting me to recheck recheck and recheck!
  12. Sorry Popsrcr, I forgot to reply to you... Try going for a nice ride, so 30-60 mins, return home, leave the bike running, put it in neutral, lift onto the centre stand, plug in the PCV to your laptop, pop the bike into gear, drag a little rear brake and slowly increase the trottle - see if you start getting any readings then (speed and gear is what you are after, AFR shouldn't be affected by these things, why it wont display is a mystery). If still nothing it's time to contact Dynojet - and your PCV or Autotune may be faulty Thanks for all the replys. When I connected the other day, it was after a long ride. I have to assume my tap is no good for the gear sensor....OR, I still have a botched firmware upgrade (odd since it shows the new version.) Maybe I'll try reloading the software on my netbook, and then try flashing the PC again. Can't hurt.
  13. Some of you have mentioned talking with a tech at PC. How did that go? I've got to look at my connections AGAIN, as I enabled map by gear and I got nothing in the trims. When I tried to manually calibrate, it wasn't sensing me being in gear, so I'll be redoing that connection. After that, I guess I'm going to have to talk to someone, since I still get no afr/temp anything but rpm on my gauge panel.
  14. I have the R&G, which mount the same as Radar's.
  15. No custom tune, nooooooo. I should be able to play with mine this weekend.
  16. Yeah, the trims were scattered (I've only done one, 15 min. ride)and varied greatly, but based on what I've read on this board, that doesn't seem wrong. And, referring to earlier, the led on my autotune is indicating the same as others. As I was half asleep this AM still pondering things, I finally figured out how to get to map by gear to enable it. So, I guess I'll accept the trims I have and enable map by gear and see what happens. I was wondering if I have an issue with the software on my pc, as I read you can't use the new firmware w/o the new software. I downloaded and installed the latest, but maybe I should reinstall...dunno.
  17. I'm getting 0s. I'll push on the connector again. When I looked at "about" it did show that it saw a wideband, and the status says 2 devices. edit - Went back out and pulled the terminator and the cable. On the terminator one of the connectors looked like it was pushed to the side, so I made a little room. Still nothing. Perhaps tomorrow I'll try to push the female side connetors a little more together to make sure they are making good contact. I'm not getting any errors. Also, if the wideband were not working, would I still see trims in the autotune table?
  18. I went through that less than excellent upgrade again and it does say 1.4. Still no AFR.
  19. You need to upgrade your firmware on the PCV to 1.4.0. We were discussing that in this thread only two days ago! Actually, I did, but I'll double check it.
  20. Really stupid question. I can't find anywhere what the lights on the Autotune mean. Edit: ok, I see its one light that is red. Should it stay on steady? And another edit. I can't seem to get an AFR reading. I'm actually not getting engine temp either, but that could be my wiring. What could I be missing? I removed and reinserted the wires into the autotune, but they seemed to have a good connection. I have the terminator on the Autotune (none on the PCV). Thoughts?
  21. Holy Power Commander! I wish I hadn't stumbled on to this at lunch. What I read was great. I hope I can follow it when I start tuning!
  22. Actually, the additional O2 currently only helps 2 cylinder bikes. None of the changes that I saw will directly help the VFR except those that wish to quickly convert a PCIII map to PCV map. By adding this tool, they're reconizing the PCV applications on pre '09 bikes, even if they say it's not supported. There also maybe improvements that aren't seen. What rev is the software? I think I downloaded the lastest. I have my autotune hooked up and running, but haven't been able to get a ride in yet. I loaded a map for exhaust and air filter and turned up autotune. That's all I've done.
  23. I just ordered a 5 and autotune for my 08. I've never messed with one of these before, so I'll be re-reading the threads to try and better understand.
  24. Depends on what you want out of the bike, no? If you tour, get things to lead you that way. If you like the twisties, move that direction. Exhaust is really about looks, sound and weight. PC should be a fun toy (I'm going to do that this winter). Personally I wouldn't do brake lines until they need replacing anyway. Pads maybe.
  25. R&G. I didn't do a spectacular job with the cutting, but you can't tell unless you're right up on it.
