  4. This picture was taken on 2/8/09 in the North GA mountains just south of Turner's Corner at the base of Blood Mountain. I was really taking this shot to show the gravel on the roads from the recent snow and ice, which was fresh from just a few days prior to my ride. The day of the ride was 70 degrees though.

Wow...the Main Page. If you look real close, the bike is leaning just a little bit. LOL  I had a great time that day on my first ever trip across the gap.

    Wha-happend here?

I am going to stop saying anything, because my point, for whatever reason, is not getting communicated. I am NOT implying, nor do I fear, VFRD members influencing the way I ride. That is NOT the point..NOT, NOT, NOT even close!!! :fing02: The point.....is about how the pictures and information about the crash (AFTER the CRASH) were handled. That is all. But I'm finished trying to get it accross. I'm just not capable. BTW..I would be honored with an opportunity to participate in a Skuuter Crawl. Alright Joker, I posted the pic and I believe everyone gets your point . I didn't realise it would be a problem when I posted plus I had no idea it would end up as the Homepage picture. I've since appoligised to the rider for posting and that is that. The reason I posted in the first place was:- #1 Nobody got hurt, very important fact..............not 1 drop of blood #2 This is a very unusual spot for a bike to end up wouldn't you agree? Defineately something different that has received lots of inquiries #3 I never once said who the rider was #4 AFTER THIS PICTURE WAS TAKEN THE BIKE WAS REMOVED FROM THE MOUNTAIN AND FIRED UP FIRST TIME #5 Further inspection revealed no broken mirrors, plastic, levers ect, the only broken piece was the surround to the gas cap which a camera mount was attached to, pretty remarkable i'd say!! #6 Warren rode the bike another 170 miles home after this incident. I hope this explains alittle of what I was thinking, again I've appoligised and we've moved on Thanks for clearing it up, but please understand, I'm not criticizing and certainly not judging the fact that you posted up the picture. Whether I agree or disagree personally, I was merely asking the question if there is an accepted practice or etiquette about this kind of thing, or if it is to be expected. Let's face it, we engage in an activity that has some risk associated with it, where tiny errors can have large consequences and costs. These type occurences are bound to happen, and it appears they happen with a relative high frequency with members on this site, which surely also has a great deal to do with the overall size of the community as well. I would not ride with anyone who I felt didn't "have my back" both on and off the road, and I wouldn't expect any more from a fellow rider than I would be willing to do in return. That includes the way situations are handled in a forum such as this where adding insult to injury is just a keystroke away. I am not saying or asking anything here that I wouldn't say if you were standing right here in front of me. Good on you for apologizing to the downed rider, and hopefully y'all will have many more fantastic rides together. Hell, hopefully I can join you sometime.

Do not let your fears get the best of you. What you are saying had nothing to do with what happend. No matter who you ride with, when you ride, where you ride. Remember 1 thing. If you make a stupid/bad decision, you may pay for it. Let me rephrase it, Making a stupid/bad decision has nothing to with who you ride with, when you ride, where you ride. Everything is your choice wether it is good or bad. NO ONE can force you to ride differently then you want to ride. I have nothing but the upmost respect for Greg and Guy who were riding with me. Both are upstanding guys and I wouldn't hesitate to ride with them again. That's cool knight....I'm glad you're OK with all of it. I was not posting due to some fear I have, just wondering if it's the generally accepted practice to post up pics like that, and whether it should expected when riding in a group from this community. I had a similar experience when a member of VFRD on a group ride had a minor get-off, and nobody mentioned anything about it on the site until the downed rider brought it up. I guess I got the wrong impression from your post in another thread. My bad.

Knight, I'm glad you and the bike came through this relatively unscathed. It appears this happened to a VFRD member while riding with other VFRD members on a ride organized here on VFRD, and really makes me wonder about some things, being a relatively new member and all myself. Perhaps since this is the "digital age" and since VFRD is, afterall, an online community, if you meet up with other members of the virtual world in the real world, you can expect to have the good, bad, as well as the ugly aspects of the mutual, non-virtual experience exposed in the virtual world, whether you like it or not. I guess that's just the chance you take?
