If you even just look at this style of rotors wrong, they will be out.  I true them quite often.  I buy cheap, low mileage OEM rotors for projects and inevitably have to "adjust" them when they arrive.  But you can pretty easily get them within a fraction of the quite large factory service limit.  I had a pair of BADLY bent rotors off of a crashed 97 VFR wheel that I wanted to use on a bike I was selling.  Took me a while, marking and adjusting, measuring and repeating, but I got them well within limits and you couldn't feel a thing at the lever.

I wonder what it is about these Rotors that make them bend/warp so easily while non-5th/6th gen VFR's aren't as problematic. As I said before, I never had these issues with any of my other gen bikes, and a quick google search shows bikes that use the same Rotors suffering from the same.

Wow, is all I can say. To let someone go that was actually caught on video in a "Hit and Run" is pretty sorry. What if someone were on the bike? Would it matter then I wonder? It's a good thing you weren't on the bike!

Yeah it was an overall upsetting situation but grateful no one was hurt. Even more upsetting was I was about to start a weekend trip on the bike. I had just gone inside my place to feed my cat and get my helmet. Came out less than 10 mins later to find the bike on it's side.

When the Police refused to lay charges they said because it happened in a parking lot. I countered with "So when I leave the Police station, if my car hits all of your personal vehicles on the way out I won't be charged?" The Officer countered by telling me not to be a smart ass. Lazy bastards.

I almost started to cry when I watched that video. Surely the work was paid for by insurance to fix your bike? And was that person in the truck even confronted regarding a hit and run?

Insurance covered the cost to fix the damage, however they couldn't source the fairings so they just cut me a cheque.

I was able to find the driver and I convinced him to report his side of the accident report, however Toronto Police refused to press any charges and didn't even care to see the video. They were less than helpful.  😥

Holy Cow. Why are these pickups so frigging HUGE!

Guess the owner needs a turning circle the size of a football field!

Such a shame, your bike looked to be well clear of that monstrosity, the idiot obviously not used to the size of the monster!

Didn't even straighten his already turned wheels to avoid you before moving off!

Yeah he was a big idiot 😡

I find a lot of the drivers here with larger vehicles don't know how to properly handler their size.

  5. I had side hard bags on my bike when it got hit and knocked over in my parking lot. Thankfully the Givi hard bags took the brunt of the damage.

I'd say the only downside was that it puts most of the weight on the front signal area.

  6. Hello fellow Popping/gurgling exhaust noises friend 😎

I'll come clean here too. When I was looking for a VFR I test rode a few 4th and 5th gens. I purchased the one I have now because the exhaust pops and cracks and I just luuvvvvvv it 😍

Sometimes when shifting gears a decent sized crack comes out the exhaust. When I'm slowing down in gear it burbles and pops. I don't know why 🤔 But it sounds heavenly. 💖

It has a 2 brothers high mount, The rest of the exhaust is stock. Still has the cat. It had a K&N filter in it. I swapped in a Pipercross and installed fresh non-iridium plugs and it cracked a tad more.

When I had my 4th gen I did the PAIR delete and my exhaust didn't pop any less but, like you, I don't wanna do it to my bike and lose my pops!

if the discs were warped then cleaning the bobbins wont do anything, but if the carrier is bent it might allow the steel of the disc to find it's own true by not pulling them out of shape.

TBH I was prepared to go buy new discs but the bobbin clean cured it.

I went by process of elimination. Tried the easy "diy" steps first before getting the discs checked at a friends shop.

You're lucky the bobbin clean cured your issue.

  8. My Givi side racks aren't clearing my highmount pipe. Not a huge surprise as I have read the threads on here and elsewhere and thought it might be a problem, but my TwoBros can is small in diameter so I was hoping it wouldn't be that big a deal.

So I added some washers and a longer bolt to one of the supports and I have tweaked the exhaust mount a bit to try and move it inwards. So far I have managed to get the rack ever so slightly away from the can, but with long rides I'm sure it will touch and rub a bit.

I'm not worried about heat as much as I am worried about vibration and rubbing.

What else can anyone suggest I do to get extra clearance?

...or maybe add something to the Givi rack to help with the inevitable rubbing? Thick tape maybe?

You can see washers in this pic easier. That bar ain't bent. Well it is but it comes that way to clear the plate.

  9. Is a bigger oil cooler always better? I've read that there is an ideal oil temperature, and lower than that is not ideal. Certainly thicker oil and less flow would come to mind.

Anyone got any better knowledge on the science of oil coolers?

    Good question.

I also wonder how the oil pressure is effected by having an oil cooler with larger diameter piping.

Anyone do a mod like this on a 4th gen?

  10. Well I ordered the modulator, but then had problems ordering the LED light.... Turns out they don't ship to Canada unless you purchase $25 or more.

If anyone in the US is ordering one for themselves I will gladly paypal you the money to order one for me, plus any additional shipping costs for you to forward it to me... Should only be $2-5.. It would truly be appreciated.

Where are you located in Canada?

A local company here sells LED's and Modulators.
