  1. Haven't posted for a while but I thought it was time I put up the latest pics of mine. had it from new in October 2014, now just about to reach 69,700 miles. Looks and runs as good as ever.
  2. Not today but Sunday - rode it (in the rain!) to the the famous Ace Cafe in North London for the Honda Owner's Club UK's 60th Anniversary Honda Day. Quite a few bikes there of all sizes and ages from Cubs to Gold Wings. Mine not looking bad for 50,000 miles plus.
  3. Rode it to the picturesque village of Finchingfield, well known to bikers in the East of England, with the Honda Owners Club Essex Branch in the Sunday sun! Photo by Toni Teuntje Harris
  4. Stopped on the way home to mark a milestone...
  5. Dropped the bloody thing wheeling it back into the garage, caught the back of my shirt on the handlebar of my mountain bike and it pulled me off balance. Fortunately it went towards me not away and I managed to stop it but still managed somehow to snap off the mirror stem. Managed to get a used replacement on ebay but couldn't get to the electric connectors without taking all the side plastics off, what a pain! All sorted now.
  6. Rode it to work, first time this month I've actually been on site since we were locked down. It was a bit weird in the normally full staff car park...
  7. Going into Brit mode here... Would you sodding believe it!!! 30 days after the above, another one. A three-quarter-inch razor-edged piece of flint carved it's way into my less than 400-mile-old rear Road 5. BOLLOX!!!!
  8. Bought a Michelin Road5 for the back end after coming home from work on Friday, wheeling it back into the garage and noticing this. Couldn't get it plugged because the screw hadn't gone in straight so it was more of a tear than a hole, plus it's illegal to repair Z-rated tyres in the UK. The Road5 was all I could get at the time so I've had to swallow my (maybe unwarranted) dislike of Michelins brought on by the poor performance of the Pilot Road 4 on my 8th gen and give their latest offering a chance, though I admit I loved the Pilot Road 3 I had on my 6th gen. Hopefully it won't complain too much about a half-worn Bridgestone T31 at the front.
  9. That puts a bit of perspective on stuff. Good luck, stay safe!
  10. Put back all the brake line brackets and bits I've taken off, de-rusted and resprayed black, then washed it. Looking OK for nearly 5 years old.
  11. It's the rear headers heat shield from the right hand side. Not too bad to remove, first you need to undo one bolt at the top, the bolt holding the rear brake fluid reservoir and the two footrest hanger bolts. That enables you to swing everything out far enough to get a spanner onto the nuts on the ends of the two bolts that go though the upper footrest hanger holding the rear brake cylinder to release the shield. These...
  12. Had this off. Not too bad considering it's been through four salty British winters and the inside face is no worse. I've seen others which are much worse but I did cover it in ACF50 when it was new. I'll get it cleaned up and resprayed before it goes back.
  13. Replaced the front calipers which had been suffering from tinfoil piston rot syndrome going into their 5th British winter of road salt. Bought a pair secondhand on eBay off a 2014 Fireblade which are identical and had them rebuilt with new seals etc. by Powerhouse Automotive here in the UK using stainless pistons. Refitted using OE Honda pads and titanium banjos and pad pins. Sweet!
  14. Last Sunday actually but I only got the picture off the website today. About a 60-mile ride with around a thousand other bikes raising money for my local helicopter air ambulance (Essex and Herts.) This is me arriving at the end of the ride, North Weald airfield in Essex where another thousand bikes were already waiting. Good day out.
  15. It's not a left-over from the 6th gen having the coolant bottle right there, is it? Edit; Just looked up the parts fiche for a 6th gen 2005 like wot I used to have, and the bolt isn't there...
  16. I have more pictures of the T-Rex sliders if you're interested, though they've changed the design recently and the mounting brackets are smaller than the previous version I have.
