  2. Hello gentlemen and Skids [Just kidding Skids...we reserve the right to have good-natured fun with members here] Best news possible - at this very moment I'm on the phone with Duc2V4 and we are setting up the spreadsheet of deposits received and orders placed for headers. Duc is in great shape, sharp as ever, reviewing this thread and keeping the project on track. At this time five people have sent deposits for new headers, and here they are. We'll keep this list updated as we received more deposits: [1] RCNick51 [Possibly has username Motleyfan] [2] A VFRD member whose actual name's initials are ZZ. We need your username to give you proper credit for your deposit - the note in your paypal transfer had almost all the info but we couldn't locate your username. [3] VFRCAPN [4] Skids [5] CornPoweredV4 Skids - to answer your question, it appears that we will have deposits received for the fabricator's minimum order of 15 units in around two more months, then construction usually takes around 30 days. Duc2V4 and I are sending PMs to everyone on Ziffer's 'I'm interested' list and we anticipate a positive response, so we are guessing at a ship date around the end of May.

  4. Finally sucked it up and did the coolant flush tonight. What I took out looked like it would glow in the dark, but it was spotless clean. I wonder if the previous owner put in 100% instead of 50/50. And there was some air in there. Flushed twice with tap, then flushing solution for 60 minutes. The tap flushing and running. Then drain and fill w/50/50. Hoping it runs a little cooler now. Fan came on at 218 and went off at 210. Also hoping to ride it a few miles tomorrow as a test and to get some fuel in it. The light is blinking.

  5. Another small step forward with the airbox. More of a stop-gap until ram air is sorted: an open lid box! Mohawk was gracious enough to send me one of his open airbox lids to fit on the race bike. And I butchered it even more! I’ve basically just cut everything off except the rim that holds the filter. If she can’t breathe through this then she’s really not trying… Used a Dremel cutting wheel to start, shaped with die grinder and hand files, and then ran a heat gun over the sharp bits to smooth them out somewhat. It’s rougher than a badger’s bum but does the job and nobody will see it. Pictures mounted on another 5th gen as the race bike doesn’t have throttle bodies on yet (watch this space for 6th gen throttle bodies). Incidentally, that Pipercross air filter was a real pain to fit. Was about 4mm too long and kept popping out of the grooves. Had to tighten one screw at a time whilst poking a flat screwdriver down the side as I went along. Took over 30 minutes to force that air filter in and I may still have pinched some of the rubber in a few places. Let’s hope the filter media is better. Open air boxes were popular with the RC30 so let’s see.

  6. Didn't someone have a Rad made once on here? Didn't cost toooo much if I remember rightly, might save you some trouble.

  7. Some of the OzVFR guys were running a communal 4th Gen trackbike a few years ago, and decided to experiment with ram air - using the ducts above each front indicator. Around Eastern Creek (now Sydney Motorsport Park) the bike simply would not rev past 6-7k, so they ripped it all out and went back to keeping the litre bikes honest. If you look at Kawasaki ram air you'll see that they include pitot tubes to tune the intake, so that the carb runs at the same air pressure as the airbox, I imagine that without adding something like that you will not do much better than the OzVFR guys.
