Remember to take your Rain gear you will need it!!!! I rode there for over 5 years in total and even the best gortex cant keep you dry.

If you are lucky there is one Wednesday afternoon, usually in August, when the sun actually shines for more than 5 minutes!!!!!!

Is this near city(town?) Dunoon Scotland? I only ask because the spelling is close and I was born there. Left when I was very young, so I have no memory of it. I will travel there at some point, but seeing a picture every so often is the best I can hope to do in the near future.

No, not anywhere near. Dunoon is , as you know, a small town on the west coast in the Inverclyde area, notable for it's proximity to the Holy Loch, where a nuclear submarine base used to be situated.

Eilean DONAN castle is in the Kyle of Lochalsh, very much in the Highlands.

You'll have to excuse SVEN'S spelling, they didn't have schools where he comes from until 1988.

The castle has it's own website :http://www.eileandonancastle.com/ for those who may be interested,

Rod

There can be only one!

Sorry, couldn't help myself. Nice pictures. Thanks for sharing them! I would love to tour the UK someday, mostly Ireland and Scotland. I will have to bring the golf clubs if I ever get to go!

Wow, beautiful pics!! I've got some family lore associated with the castle: my mother's maiden name was McRae and I have been told that the historically the McRaes were henchmen for the highland MacKenzies and the gatekeepers of the Eilean Donan. I hope to travel there someday to confirm the family mythology! :)
