1991 VFR750 Bremerton.jpg

Lorne

I bought this mint '91 VFR750 in March of 1993, and a day later took the long route home. Stopped in Bremerton, Wash., for some shots alongside these navy ships. BB-62, battleship New Jersey is the only one I am sure of, but I believe that it was flanked by the carriers CVS-12 Hornet, and CV-41 Midway.

Quite possible the carriers were the Hornet and Midway.  Both were up there at that time as Midway left San Diego in 1992.  Ironically I almost took a shot of Midway & my VFR two days ago but but I forgot!

Very nice 3rd gen.  Maybe my favorite of all the VFR's.

Around 1980, before the battleships were returned to service, the Missouri (BB-63) was moored next to the New Jersey (foreground of this photo).  What an imposing sight to come down the road around Sinclair Inlet to see 2 monstrous battleships moored next to each other and then be able to pull right up in front of them.  You have to see them to understand the scale.  It's hard to believe something that big can actually move.
