I bought the bike with a modded seat that has two straps round the pillion section with snaps and clips, probably for mounting a soft tailbag of some sort. I attached the top case mount to the straps with, from memory, probably zap straps, plus a third strap through the base and completely round the seat. I've since mounted the Givi 257FZ so that I could put my dry bag and tent on the back seat. It was handy mounted as above but I practically had to kick myself in the back of the head to avoid scuffing the top case during mount/dismount.

In case anyone is wondering, the picture was taken near Victoria, BC in East Sooke Park, overlooking Whiffin Spit.

The straps are what RKAccessories supplied to attach their 47 litre soft panniers. It was the best mounting system I've seen for soft saddle bags.
