ElPolloDiablo
So I got myself a shiny 99 VFR800FI that comes with the stock Honda alarm system. Now, I am a big anti-alarm guy and I'm already tired of pressing the button on the remote every time I want to start it. How do I get rid of it? Thanks! Member Contributer Egg on Leggs Posted September 16, 2021 Member Contributer Share Posted September 16, 2021 If it is the standard Areto (sp) system, I believe it is a plug and play device. Remove connectors from alarm inter connectors and plug the originals back together.
Member Contributer Grum Posted September 16, 2021 Member Contributer Share Posted September 16, 2021 What's your aim? Do you want it completely removed or just disabled? To disable, it might have its own fuse, or at least a power connection to your battery, just remove that. You could then easily enable the alarm whenever you like, It may be a good resale accessory to have functional in the future.
Member Contributer DannoXYZ Posted September 19, 2021 Member Contributer Share Posted September 19, 2021 "Alarm" is really not that. Whenever you press button, it sends back to Mothership all information about you, your riding habits and any non-Honda products you may have installed. Then Mothership acknowledges receipt and tells bike it can turn on. Why would you want to defeat this process? It works and all this data-collecting is for your own good!
