moroseduck
With the return of my resprayed fairing and tank imminent it's time to get the scuffed and flaking paint on clutch and alternator cover painted, but I've never sprayed anything before. I've bought some TechCote high temp paint, any advice on how best to proceed much appreciated - I'm tempted to mask off and spray in situ as Ive not taken the respective covers off before and have no idea what to expect, is this dumb? Thanks in advance
Member Contributer JZH Posted May 27, 2021 Member Contributer Share Posted May 27, 2021 I've re-painted covers before, and I did it by removing them, then stripping off the old paint with chemical paint stripper, then spray painting them. If you tried to do the job in situ you could only really spray over the old paint. Removing covers is not difficult, but there's oil behind them, so it's best to remove them during an oil change. Gaskets can rip, so have new ones on hand. The Honda Workshop Manual shows you what you need to do, as does the Haynes manual. Ciao, JZH
moroseduck
Brilliant, thank you, I'd planned on doing an oil change once I get the fuel tank back, I'll hold off painting till then.
