Best line of this post. I turn 56 next week and still struggle with this. The condition is aggravated by awesome exhaust sounds so consider this before doing exhaust work.

 

@Skids How would your insurance company know you have reflashed the ECU?

My only reticence in doing it is insurance.

deffo would not stress about that, at least not here in Denmark
No way any insurance company here would check if my ECU had a map the deviated from the default settings.

Yeah i'v left the flapper valve in the exhaust open, somehow this has resulted in my RPM's being consistently higher and my throttle hand suddenly being more heavy than normal. 
 I'll have to do more tests to see if this continues
maybe a DAM end can will solve this problem.

Sadly, a DAM end can will make your situation worse, with much more revving of the bike. You can ease the situation somewhat by inserting a plug thingy in the hole at the back, but mine seems to keep falling out whenever it's in my garage.
