Member Contributer lazyeye Posted November 8, 2020 Member Contributer Share Posted November 8, 2020 Since I crash tested my Scorpion gear I'm in the market for new Fall/Winter/Spring or 4 Season gear. I could get more Scorpion stuff since it does the job, but why not look around? What I had: https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/scorpion-yosemite-hi-viz-jacket https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/scorpion-yosemite-pants More or less I liked it but the waterproofness was accomplished by an inner liner, which I didn't really care for. While waterproof they got damp just from my sweat, so I was considering something made of Gortex or Gortex-like material. My local shop is a Klim dealer and has an upcoming Veterans day sale, so I could get the Carlsbad gear for about $900. I don't want to pay $900, but I figure it would be the nearly the best stuff on the market right? Or is it not all its hyped up to be? Carlsbad: https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/klim-carlsbad-jacket https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/klim-carlsbad-pants I was also considering the Alpinestars Hyper Drystar: https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/alpinestars-hyper-drystar-jacket https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/alpinestars-hyper-drystar-pants A* is the less expensive option but its an unknown quantity and I'd have to gamble a bit on their sizing since I've had bad luck with them in the past. So what do you think Hive Mind? Waterproofness is pretty important since I live in the Pacific Northwest. Sporty shape would be nice since I ride ST bikes, but not a make or break deal as my last gear was "adv" style.
Member Contributer St. Stephen Posted November 9, 2020 Member Contributer Share Posted November 9, 2020 Well, if you are OK looking like a total geek, like me, you can get a Stich. Expensive but cheap over the long life of the garment. On or off in 30 seconds, can wear normal clothes underneath for work, waterproof, armor in the shoulders, elbows, knees and back (extra $80), and really good abrasion-resistent ballistic textiles in key places. Good up to high 80"s F max, depending on your heat tolerance, although I have done 100 degree+ days in it. I basically have three riding outfits: Bottom-of-the-line Cortech leather track day suit. Dainese Drake pants, and a basic Tourtech vented jacket for warm weather. Stich. 7.5 years old right now. It's hidden advantage is that it is so quick to put on that you ride more often. YMMV
Member Contributer MaxSwell Posted November 9, 2020 Member Contributer Share Posted November 9, 2020 My first riding suit was a Aerostich Roadcrafter. But once the Transit Suit was anounced that dit it for me. And it has saved my live at least once (deer crash at 65 mph on I74 in Urbana, Il.) And protected me well in several less dramatic encounters with the ground. Waterproof (GoreTex bonded to leather). Majik armor: TF5 - The harder it is impacted the harder it becomes. And there is more. And they are now available again. https://www.aerostich.com/catalogsearch/result/?cat=4&q=transit
Badger1
+1 for the Roadcrafter. The ease of putting it on can't be understated. Plus, I think it's like a badass flight suit!
VFR4Me
If you're are looking into heated gear i have a pair of brand new Gerbing ExPro pants in size Medium listed for sale in the classifieds. For 3 and 4 seasons riding i prefer insulated and heated gear. Separate pants and jackets with heated liners gives me flexibility to dress for the conditions, and plug in for extra warmth as needed. That being said...i still really really want a 1piece 'stich suit

That being said...i still really really want a 1piece 'stich suit I already have heated gear. I had a one piece textile for two seasons and didn't really care for it (not an aerostich). Generally I don't want to wear normie clothes under my gear, I wear insulating and base layers. Normie clothes bunch up and retain moisture too much.
