Member Contributer Calculon Posted September 28, 2020 Member Contributer Share Posted September 28, 2020 Didn’t realize when I changed my oil that I overfilled. It’s over the top line in the sight glass by a small amount and I’ve noticed some oil drips below the bike. Is is there a way to extract the oil without doing an oil change? Member Contributer boOZZIE Posted September 28, 2020 Member Contributer Share Posted September 28, 2020 Part of the reason I put a ez oil drain plug in. Big Syringe or pump from hand sanitiser or similar and some tube and suck it out

Wish I'd thought of boOZZIE's pump idea last month when I overfilled it myself. First time I ever did that. I ended up dumping the oil and starting over, though I did re-use the new oil. Member Contributer DannoXYZ Posted September 28, 2020 Member Contributer Share Posted September 28, 2020 I tilt bike over towards fill side and use turkey-baster to suck out some.
Member Contributer Terry Posted September 28, 2020 Member Contributer Share Posted September 28, 2020 I overfilled my ST1300 at the last oil change. I carefully loosened the drain plug and allowed about a cup full to drain out around my hand, then put the plug back in. I was wearing gloves. Be prepared to make a mess, but it wasn't difficult to control the oil flow and get the drain plug back in place.
