Subzero720
My VFR800 that I recently bought was running perfectly fine then a couple days ago it started having problems idling, to the point it wouldn’t idle. The fuel is leaking from the bottom of the bike where the exhaust is. Any idea what this issue might be? Or what might need fixing? And perhaps the cost to fix the issue? Member Contributer Grum Posted August 18, 2020 Member Contributer Share Posted August 18, 2020 What year is your bike? What mileage? Fuel leaking from the bottom of the bike! Can you identify if the fuel is coming from the overflow pipe under the bike? Raise the tank up to the maintenance position and have a very good look at the fuel hoses to and from your tank, check for any leaks under the tank, split/chaffed or damaged fuel lines. If you are smelling raw fuel from the exhaust and running like you say, you may well have a ruptured diaphragm within your Fuel Pressure Regulator, this will cause excess fuel to be drawn into cylinders 3 and 4. Via the vacuum hoses. You could also have one or more of your fuel injectors not shutting off properly. Are you seeing white smoke from the exhaust with the smell of raw fuel, or the smell of fuel in the oil? Probably best not to attempt to ride your bike until this matter is sorted, could be dangerous. If you're not up to checking the things mentioned then you'd be best to trailer your bike to a reputable motorcycle service centre. Good Luck, keep us posted. You can download the service manual from this site if you don't already have it.
