Bebop
Hi All! I’ve bought a used DMR 929 shock on eBay but I’m struggling to fit it. My bike is a 2001 model with a stock exhaust with the collector box. The problem is that the collector box is restricting access so I cant get the old shock out! Am I missing something? Many thanks! Member Contributer Dutchy Posted August 8, 2020 Member Contributer Share Posted August 8, 2020 Wheel off, drop swingarm, pull out shock to the left would be the procedure on a VF500F2. On a RC36-
Member Contributer Mohawk Posted August 8, 2020 Member Contributer Share Posted August 8, 2020 You should be able to remove the triangle plates & then undo the frame top bolt & drop the shock down through the hole in the swingarm. Reverse to insert new one.
Member Contributer Terry Posted August 9, 2020 Member Contributer Share Posted August 9, 2020 As above, I took the wheel off and used a jack on the swingarm; the shock is easier to move through the arm when it is well raised up IIRC.
Member Contributer ducnut Posted August 9, 2020 Member Contributer Share Posted August 9, 2020 Unbolt the shock, link bar, and plates, raise the swingarm as high as you can and it will drop out the bottom.

Bebop
Oh just one last thing......do I definitely have to take the wheel off? Will the swing arm lift give me enough clearance with the wheel on?
Member Contributer Dutchy Posted August 9, 2020 Member Contributer Share Posted August 9, 2020 Stop whining!! Taking the wheel off gives you the opportunity to give the swingarm (and the wheel) a good clean!
Member Contributer ducnut Posted August 9, 2020 Member Contributer Share Posted August 9, 2020 The wheel has to come off. I can’t imagine fretting 4 lug nuts. 🤦♂️
