Imagearhead
After coming back from ride coming up putting in neutral with the side Stand down as soon as the stand hits the ground engine shuts down will recrank lift up the stand and put it down and will shut down again when the unit is cold does not do that. Does this sound like the side stand switch or the neutral switch I've checked both of them out and they read out .neutral switch reads out 4.5 ohms. Has been happening for about 1 year. It's a 2001with 161,000 miles still running strong.
Member Contributer Grum Posted July 19, 2020 Member Contributer Share Posted July 19, 2020 Nothing wrong with the Sidestand. It's the Neutral switch or wiring that's the issue. If the ECM does not see a Ground from the Neutral Switch, then as you lower the Sidestand that means DEAD engine. Is your Neutral Light working at normal brightness when the fault happens? Check the Neutral Switch it needs to read Zero ohms to Ground when in Neutral not 4.5 ohms. Failing that you need to check the wiring up to the ECM for the Neutral Switch Ground input at ECM B10 a Green/Red wire. In the Fault condition does your bike ALWAYS crank over when in Neutral OR do you need to Raise the Sidestand and pull the clutch in just to crank the engine? This could highlite a faulty Clutch Blocking Diode. Cheers.
