Mileage Let's Rock'em 'til the wheels fall off...

Recommended Posts

Won't be low mileage for long...😁

As neat as the odometer reset was , the manner in which I did it is what I'll remember most.  I'm currently riding said 200,000 mile VFR across the USA to Cali.  Third such trip for this bike.  The odometer rolled near the half way point, in the wastelands of Texas west of Abilene.

To VFRGivng and RC79 and GRUM and all others with your high mileage VFRs I salute you.

Impressive riding and even more impressive machines

I have 18,000miles or 29,500 kms on my 8th gen and I think that's high mileage LOL.

Keep riding and ride safe all.

I used to be the same but when you get down to it, the engines will go practically forever, what starts to feel baggy is the suspension, steering, cush drive and sometimes the brakes. All these are easy enough for an owner to service or upgrade with basic tools. My other ride is a 2005 ST1300 with nearly 130,000km, but with some new bits in the forks and a YSS shock it handles better than new.

I'm a low performer, but it is hard to get mileage on any one of them! Celebrate me. lol

If it makes you feel better, I'm a lightweight too.  The highest mileage 5th gen I've personally encountered is in fact not mine.  That accolade belongs to a 2001 VFR owner from Canada who I met purely by chance over this summer at a popular motorcycle stop in WV.  His odometer was about to be at 0... for the 3rd time.    390,000 KM, which I'm sure is well over 400K by now.

To borrow a phrase...

"It is not the size of your tachometer that matters"

Did you enjoy the rides honey?

You got it vfrgiving.

The worrying thing as stated in the Owners Manual under the heading of "Instruments, Controls, & Other Features" it states - Odometer "The display locks at 999,999 when the readout exceeds 999,999" .......Buggar, so once I've done a million kilometers I'll need a new instrument panel, bike will be only just run in at that stage!

Just switch to miles and you can get another 378,629! 😄
