Toddman622
Hello, This is my first post here. Am putting the finishing touches on a 1994. Should be back on the street next week. I made a few changes to it. The bike sat outside for a few years. It started out as a clean up and ride it. I have a 2016 CB1000R that I ride quite a bit. Here’s a punch list as it’s taken a couple of years to get it sorted. It’s been well worth the time. Hope you enjoy and maybe get some ideas. Daugherty suspension cartridges and a shock (made a HUGE difference) Sprung for me. Brembo Radial monoblock calipers and Radial master (fabbed the hangers) 2004 CBR1000RR plastics (Challenges were involved)
Toddman622
The original gas tank was too large and roundish to go with the 2004 plastics so I built a 3 gallon steel tank to fit under the RR tank cover.
Toddman622
The radial Brembos turned out better than I had imagined. They are strong but very smooth. Those are the original 4th gen rotors.
Toddman622
This was all tested at Hallett Speedway.
Toddman622
The Daugherty suspension changed the bike.
Toddman622
I like Bridgestone BT016 Tires. They are good all around tires. I’ve run them on my trackday bikes for some time now. I used Michelin slicks on race days. The Bridges work great on the street too. It’s a win, win. heres some track pics.

CharlieFoxtrot
Great first post! Bitchin' bike! Would you be interested in making another set of those caliper brackets?
Toddman622
Hey Thanks Charlie, The hangers were originally fashioned out of steel to get the measurements close and Then milled aluminum. although I believe in them completely, I’ld like to use them for awhile. Give me about a thousand miles Testing and I’d be happy to send you a drawing. The calipers were originally from a ‘13 Busa. They are so much better than the originals but this IS a 41mm fork. Lol. Don’t need a fork brace yet as I’ve welded up 2 steel rods that run over the top of the front fender that help keep the fork aligned. The mountings for the brace were the original brake line mounts for the crossover line. This pic shows the front brace and there’s another behind the fork. They do make a difference. Toddman622
The Tail. With so much emphasis put on the tails of today’s sport bikes, I wanted to share my thought process of this one. The ‘04 1000RR came with an under tail exhaust. Honda put cooling ducts on the side and the center of the tail. There was never a plan to run such an exhaust on this/my build and I wanted to keep the rear of the bike looking thick/heavy as Honda had done with this VFR. Today’s plastics are form-able with heat without sacrificing stability of the base material. In other words, you can heat it, bend and form it and when it cools it is still strong. The sides were heated and bent down 90 degrees to delete the side cooling ducts. This body set came a passenger seat cover. The cover was cemented to the base tail, filled and painted. It took me about 12 hours to get it smoothed out but that’s why it looks different from an original RR tail. This changed allowed the use of an aftermarket LED tail light that bolts right in. I built the subframe and it was part of the design. I also tried to incorporate the style of today’s GP bikes with the tail being parallel to the ground. The VFR wasn’t built with a short rear end and I wanted to keep that look.
Toddman622
I did entertain the thought of a naked version. The VFR has the makings of a nice naked. This is one of my favorite pictures of this build. The chassis mods were complete and it was basically done (sans the body). This had the stock fuel tank and an old gixxer rear seat cover for a rear fender. Compared to the 1000r.
Toddman622
It's almost done. Need to fabricate some thin aluminum side covers. I would like the frame to be black. I've inundated everybody with garage pics. Here's a couple from outside. Also added a rear brake light switch. I've been looking at those old plunger style switches for sooooo long, I tire of them. I had an old front brake micro switch laying around. It's hard to see as it is nestled behind the rear sets. Works great.
