Rsparky
I know this was beaten to death for the 02-09 group. Haven't seen much for the gen 8 bikes. I want the racing unit for multiple reasons. Obviously, more go juice would be great. Biggest reason there. I have an ixil exhaust and did flapper / snorkel, so I realize that I killed mid-range, but gained ear porn. Maybe I can get back a little bit of oomph that I lost. But also, though I despise hitting the TC button every time I turn the bike on, the dash now looks funny to me without the light on. But anywho, I wonder what dimsport uses to control TC. I've occasionally been able to lift the front now, but I'm not a wheelie guy and would eff up my forks or more, if I tried to do that. I ride 5 days a week, 50 weeks a year, even during lockdown lol. So this is a worthy investment for me. Anyone have insight on gen 8 peculiarities? Install, map suggestions, etc. I'll have to borrow the wife's laptop to hook up in the garage, but the nagging will be worth it.
Member Contributer Thumbs Posted April 29, 2020 Member Contributer Share Posted April 29, 2020 No need for a map to start with, just install the unit and the bike is ready to go I’ve got the road one installed, been in my 2015 since 2018, no problems .... Member Contributer VifferJ Posted April 30, 2020 Member Contributer Share Posted April 30, 2020 Tuning in to this... I've considered getting a Rapidbike for my gen8 mostly due to I'm under the impression that's the only way to custom tune this bike on the dyno. Is that a correct assumption? I looked at PowerCommander before deciding on the RapdBike ....the harness that came with it is one of the best I’ve ever seen and it took less than an hour to install, it also came with a USB lead so will hook up to a computer, something I have yet to explore The Race unit can be expanded on with multiple sensors, there’s a lengthy thread @ VFRWorld where they did a group buy
mountainslide
No peculiarities for me at all. Had the racing version Installed shortly after the bike was broken in and left it in "smart" mode so it adapts. Recently installed headers and flogged it hard in the hills so it would "learn" how I ride.
Member Contributer Mohawk Posted April 30, 2020 Member Contributer Share Posted April 30, 2020 The first RBR group buy was right here on VFRD 👍 It was a good number of years ago. CandyRed who lead that appears to be MIA for a while. Do some searching & you will find threads on here.

Voided76
I would normally wholeheartedly recommend the racing module: I have one myself. but Ive run into a few snags in my horsepower seeking shenanigans. I can't give it enough injector duty cycle with the "consumer" map and controller to run E85. I can't even give it the same 5 degrees timing advance I ran on my 6th gen with a rapidbike 2. map maxes out at 3 degrees advance extra. I'm working on a solution to that. <_< >_> Understand that your bike will be undoubtedly nice on a RBR. it has so much interesting stuff to fiddle with if you've the time and means. but you need to have the time and the means. :)
