Hollowlefty
Hello all, I've been working to undo the many sins committed by the previous owner on my 99. Today I'd like to highlight what is probably the most grievous, the DIY under tail exhaust. rather than build from a midpipe, they welded straight to the header. No pipe bending here, they welded pipe sections together with all the elegance of a newborn giraffe. The mufflers they chose didn't quite fit in their 'designated' place but the intrepid builder just put one on crooked to make them sort of fit. I have no idea what these cans were originally intended for but it certainly wasn't this. Anyway at long last I swapped the whole thing out for a delkevic system that seems to work just fine. As for the half OEM pipes that I replaced I they are in San Diego and up for grabs. I know it's unlikely but I figure there's a chance that someone might need most of a header for a project they are working on. Let me know if you need photos or details, If there's no interest I'll just toss them but it only seemed right to put them here first. Also while I'm posting I just want to throw out a big THANK YOU to the community. I don't chime in much or at all but the discussions and knowledge base have been invaluable to my VFR ownership experience.

Hollowlefty
Now that I have daylight here we are. I present the following for general entertainment Starting from the back we have the lop sided mufflers. You will notice the L brackets held on with enormous hose clamps, that was to provide a mount location for the license plate since no where else was available. That was actually an upgrade as PO had just zip tied the plate to the pipes and hoped they wouldn't melt In the center we see the results of sub frame interference. This was mirrored on the other can Notice where the tire rubbed the pipe, right on a weld seam too The transition from factory to fudged Up close on the welds, pretty sure they were using a cheese based flux or something Wider view And the whole system

JoelF
I think I learned to weld from that guy. Never quite mastered the booger weld myself.
