M0T0RIDER3737
hey all, i'm about the carry out a chain and sprocket replacement on my bike, the question i have is, looking at the rear sprocket assembly it doesn't look like the hub nut needs to come off to do the replacement, i'm probably wrong, which is why i also bought a 46mm socket just incase, TL;DR can i get the rear sprocket off without dismantling part of the rear hub assembly? thanks in advance and sorry if this has been asked before, i couldn't find anything when i searched for it. Member Contributer FromMaine Posted October 26, 2019 Member Contributer Share Posted October 26, 2019 The hub nut does not need to come off. On my 97 there are 6 bolts with 14mm nuts that hold the rear sprocket on the hub assembly, I assume its similar on your 2014. Here is a video made by a member here that details the whole process, which is really fairly easy. The torque value on the bolts is 33 newtons or 24 ft. lbs. Have at it 🙂
Member Contributer Bent Posted October 26, 2019 Member Contributer Share Posted October 26, 2019 FromMaine is right. The hub doesn't need to come off. The job is, to me, a messy and PIA job but a shop would do it wrong for too much money. You can do it. I recommend using Honda sprockets. Just my opinion on that.
