honda1964 Posted September 25, 2019 Share Posted September 25, 2019 I have had 4 VFR800’s, 1 VFR1200F and currently own a VFR1200X, i recently added a 1987 VFR750 RC24 without an HPI check as it was reasonably cheap but found out shortly after buying it with in 2 years of it being new it was written off, somehow it survived on the road for another 30 Mots, something about the bike did not seem right, i sold it to a Honda mechanic as a project, he later told me it was an utter mess under the fairings, he had to replace the frame and the subframe and that he did not think for a minute he was going to find what he did. So i had a lucky break in one way but i also loved how the bike felt and regretted letting it go, the Cam Driven gears had me truly intoxicated and it was simply the greatest bike i had ever ridden. With the bike i got two workshop manuals so when i sold it I kept them because i knew i would look for another, its taken a year but it has fallen to my feet and this time I think i have found one to last me my remaining years in original excellent condition. Yes its nice and red in the flesh, I have the seat cowl and the plastic covers for when its not in place, every mot and service bill and the service book has been fully kept up to date. It’s 25 years old and only 25,000 miles so i feel i am the new custodian, i am sure it wont be all roses in the garden and spares are becoming an issue but people keep 100 year old bikes on the road so i am sure there will be ways around it.
