Member Contributer Lannyl81 Posted September 25, 2019 Member Contributer Share Posted September 25, 2019 I think I read on here somewhere of using the tie down bolts from a CBR600 or something like that to replace the original style bolts that uses a large flat blade screwdriver for removal; now of course I cannot find that info. Anyone happen to know what I am referring to? There were three part numbers to get...... Thanks
atx
As in the cbr bolts use something besides flathead to remove them? The OEM ones you can use a coin, edge of a key, almost anything to get em loose if you didn't crank em down too tight.
Member Contributer Lannyl81 Posted September 26, 2019 Author Member Contributer Share Posted September 26, 2019 The CBR bolts use the same hex key as the fairing bolts.....looks better. And I was able to find the info; bolts are from a CBR900, not a 600.....what would I do without partzilla.com.....
Member Contributer RC36B Posted September 26, 2019 Member Contributer Share Posted September 26, 2019 I guess this would be the #1 stupid question of today - what / where on earth are tie down bolts?

Wiggo
I bought some knurled handwheels from Ebay. Check you get the right bolt size, obviously. I think Gen 5 uses an M6 bolt. https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/Male-M10-X-30mm-Thread-Soft-Touch-5-Lobed-60mm-Polypropylene-Hand-Wheel-Knob/524955930

Member Contributer JZH Posted September 29, 2019 Member Contributer Share Posted September 29, 2019 Yes, they're from the 900RR. The VFR's more protruding versions are commonly called "Frankenbolts" around here... Ciao, JZH
