The Future of the Honda VFR Marque

Can we see the end of the Honda VFR as we know it?

Increasing emissions regulations are causing more and more issues with our beloved V4 engine and models are being withdrawn from sale in many markets.

What, if any, is the future for the Honda V4? The success of the Repsol Honda team in Moto GP is a perfect marketing opportunity for Honda (what is the point in spending all that money road racing if it is not to sell road bikes?) yet if they do finally withdraw all the current VFR V4 engines, all they'll be left with is the niche RCV which is out of the reach of virtually all of us, so how can they continue to exploit their on-track success?

Are there plans to introduce a brand new V4 emission-compliant engine/model? Or what?

Let’s see MM on another make, then we will see if he’s magic. Or failing that one of the other young chargers at HRC. Lorenzo has been a damp squib due to his very different riding style. Or just loan Rossi, Lorenzo bike for a giggle !

MM can probably already hear the knocking on his door.....

He already saw him on the podium....

With sales of sportsbikes going down faster than Bautista on his Panigale, it hold out little hope for our beloved  VFRs. Even my insurer wants a premium for my "sportsbike" VF400....

The "elder" demograph that like VFRs already ownone..

For probably > a decade, the best selling mc (at least in the Netherlands) is the big Beemer GS.

The bigger Asian markets want a 300cc at best.

Even Harley, once lusted after for that outlaw allure, is feeling the crunch. Cos HD is now seen as an old folks bike, thanks to HOG ageing dentist and lawyer image....
