dozyproductions
Hey there you guys. Not a new member but returning from a long hiatus. Last big thread was the restoration:https://www.vfrdiscussion.com/index.php?/forums/topic/85012-san-diego-98-vfr800-restoration/ Moved from San Diego to Poland and have been living here for the last 2 years. Great country, great food and full of beautiful people (women ;D ) . Something was missing though. Finally found that missing piece; a 2000 vfr800! Here she is: Bought it from an enthusiast so most things are clean and well kept. Nothing to do mechanically! Wooh! No salt air damage and it was never ridden during the winter (no rust). The SS exhaust is from a polish company and sounds like the old wolf exhaust. Beautiful. If any of you euro guys are interested, will take a closer look to see where it's from. Highly recommend it. Beautiful rumble and growl without being too much or too loud (relative 😉 ). Sounds better than 80% of what's out there on other bikes or VFRs. Will slowly start making this girl look like the ol' sheela from SD. What ended up happening was the buyer to the old bike stopped payment while I was away in Poland. He seemed like a good guy so I stupidly let him pay off the rest of the amount from bank transfers. Some of the good ol' boys rustled and tustled him a bit but after some "bumps and bruises", he just simply had no money to give them. The bike is now finally owned by a worker at Ivan's Fast Bikes. Recommend that shop for anyone in San Diego. A mostly unsatisfying ending that I'd like to rectify this time around. What needs to be done: Put on the new Continentals II. Finally will have confidence on turns... and going straight ;D (In process) Powder coating wheels and bits here and there. Half of that is being done now (the front shocks and rear pegs will be black later) (in process) Fixing dents in the gas tank and possible paint job ;D Looking through all electrical connections Some rust prevention spray here and there and electrical 'grease'. Sexy seat cover (https://allegro.pl/oferta/pokrowiec-siedzenie-honda-vfr-800-fi-rc-46-8272760122?item=8272760122) Buy racks and travel 'packs'. Connect with the rest of you here! Here how the red rocket (sheela) sits: Questions: - To powder coat the front forks, what would you guys recommend for a process. The shop where it's at now asked me what can be exposed in the baking process and I honestly did not have a good answer and can't remember how it was done last time 😞 - Can you guys help me with some links to vfr 800 parts selling pages and diagrams? All of my link folders are gone. Again, glad to be back and reading all of your threads and progress on projects! If anyone needs a buddy to go riding, in Poland, then pm me. I live in Warszawa. Member Contributer Duc2V4 Posted July 5, 2019 Member Contributer Share Posted July 5, 2019 Welcome back! My recollection of the forks, is the bearings and sleeve on the fork tube would need to be removed/replaced, other than that I don’t think there’s any other issue to worry about.
