Member Contributer HughJebolzak Posted June 3, 2019 Member Contributer Share Posted June 3, 2019 The shop manual recommends "sealant" be applied to the grommet when replacing the stator. Is this usually done or skipped? If it's done, then is RTV used (high temp silicone gasket goo)?
WackenSS
Rtv silicone is my go to and yes, i always use it.
Member Contributer Duc2V4 Posted June 3, 2019 Member Contributer Share Posted June 3, 2019 I have used RTV as well. On my last stator change the gasket got FUBARed and I had a leak, rather than order a new gasket and have to wait for it, I used some Honda Bond that I had on hand. Used it as a gasket and as a sealant on the grommet.

Member Contributer Marvelicious Posted June 3, 2019 Member Contributer Share Posted June 3, 2019 Yeah, RTV or similar... I like the grey Permatex "The Right Stuff", which I have heard anecdotally is the same formula as Hondabond.
