Jovinski
Good evening everyone, Getting back into my bike and am replacing the ancient tires. Tires are older than my nine year old son, so I can’t remember what I did when I replaced the front rim last time. My main question is lubrication to the shaft and spacers and whether to use loctite or something similar. Even at fifteen years old, my bike only has 11 thousand miles on it. Should I worry about the bearings or anything else? Thanks, jb
Member Contributer FJ12Ryder Posted April 26, 2019 Member Contributer Share Posted April 26, 2019 Check the bearings for smooth operation while the wheel is off. Clean the axle, and I use a little anti-seize on mine before sliding it back in place. I don't use locktite. And it's a good idea while the calipers are off, to check/lube the caliper slider pins. The lube can get pretty solid over time, and not work like it should.
