Member Contributer FromMaine Posted April 20, 2019 Member Contributer Share Posted April 20, 2019 I'm looking at buying a disc lock for my 97, but I'm 1700 miles away from my bike at work, so can't measure the diameter of the vent holes in my rotors. Does anyone know off hand what size they are? Advice on particular make locks or models would be appreciated. Thanks
Member Contributer Philois1984 Posted April 20, 2019 Member Contributer Share Posted April 20, 2019 I have a eighth gen and use a Kryptonite New York lock. I am not sure if you are planning on using a small lock that actually goes through the round vent holes on the disc? As per attached photo the New York lock goes through the cutaway sections nearer to the axle. Hope this helps.
Member Contributer FromMaine Posted April 21, 2019 Author Member Contributer Share Posted April 21, 2019 Well, that's interesting. I hadn't even considered doing something like that. In fact, I may even have a lock that I used with a chain on my CB650 when I was working in Calf. that may fit. Still may go with a disc lock with alarm, but glad I asked the question, as I received an answer that I would never have expected. Thank You! Member Contributer Dutchy Posted April 21, 2019 Member Contributer Share Posted April 21, 2019 Put that lock as close to/under the caliper as possible. So so cannot rotate a bit and come to a full stop if you forgot it....
