Smokie engine

uthmanhafeez

Question

My bike fell upside down during a windy rainy storm last week. After the rain storm, engine was refused to crank but later came to life. Thick smoke began coming out of the exhaust. Oil drops was noticed at the end of the exhaust too.

The bike was abandoned till the 4th day. I started the bike yesterday without smoke the first 5minutes but the smoke emerged again. No noticed strange noise from the engine.

Comments pls.

What VFR do you have?

If your bike fell "upside down" as opposed to just 90deg from vertical, then perhaps oil has entered the air box via the Crankcase Ventilation hose. I would remove the air filter cover and inspect the intake area for oil, clean it out. Check the oil level, top up as necessary then run the bike, it will probably just burn the oil out and return to normal.

Was the engine running or ignition ON when the bike fell over? Remember you have a Bank Angle Sensor the ignition will need to be turned OFF then On before you can crank the engine.

Good Luck.
