91Viffer
Hello. Hoping to get some help help with the steering lock on a 91 750. I can't seem to get the handlebars to lock. I believe I understand the process: turn the bars all the way left or right, then push in and turn key to the lock position (left), then slowly turn bars back to center until they click. But for whatever reason, they won't click into place. Is it possible the ignition lock is broken? Thanks in advance.

Member Contributer Egg on Leggs Posted April 3, 2019 Member Contributer Share Posted April 3, 2019 Always worth going simple first. Whenever someone tells me their bike is making a strange noise I tell them to service it and see if that sorts it.
Member Contributer Terry Posted April 4, 2019 Member Contributer Share Posted April 4, 2019 The lock should be a simple pin that protrudes from the barrel and engages in a socket in the steering head casting. Maybe you've got crud in the socket, or the pin won't move (corrosion) or the lock mechanism is loose so the pin won't align.
